It really sets the tone for the rest of the series. Reminded me allot of the original FMA series and the way it was able to establish the world such that everything felt innocent, only to rip it away and leave you feeling foolish for trusting it.

Yeah, that episode of Kino's Journey is a masterpiece in of itself.
