Really liked the scene where HC said XL can roll any number to see him if he wants to see him. Both of their expressions were so soft and gentle.

Guess we'll be seeing crazy Qi Rong in the next ep.

Wow, I love this episode so much!!

The moment where lqq told xl that he will never be like him even after living the "same experiences" particularly make sense when you've read the entire série and you make parallel whith the end

"Actually... As long as you want to see me, no matter what number you roll, you can see me."

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I can't believe they finally animated this line. I can't wait to hear some other beloved quotes from the novel, like "To me, the one basking in infinite glory is you"...

This was another phenomenal episode. I especially loved the soft, disconsolate look on Hua Cheng's face as Xie Lian laughed hysterically. The slight tears in Xie Lian's eyes as he laughed broke me. It's easy to get caught up in all the fandom's memes about the whole "Xie Lian didn't know whether to laugh or cry thing...but seeing such moments in the donghua really hits home.

I'm glad they animated the scenes with Mu Qing and Feng Xin that they skipped over in the manhua since they provided some nice comedic relief.

I was surprised that they didn't end on Qi Rong's official appearance as a cliffhanger... but tbh I could go another week without seeing him lol.

They also changed some scenes in the ending theme song credits! While it's nice, I'm still admittedly not the biggest fan of the ending's visuals. I wish they would do something similar to the Audio Drama's ending theme song with the donghua's opening and ending—since I particularly liked the styling and themes of it.

Also, where is the preview for the next episode? For some reason, the official TGCF Twitter account hasn't uploaded it yet but I keep seeing bits and pieces of it on Twitter and TikTok. Give it to me already!!! Does anyone know where I can watch the full preview, please?

P.S. I'm so excited to see San Lang next week! Don't get me wrong, his Hua Cheng form is great but I do miss San Lang's youthful cheekiness... He hits different somehow lol...

@__Mina__22 Yeah definitely. I feel like a lot of scenes in the donghua make more sense and hit differently when one has read the manhua and especially the novel.

@Xealias Me too! That's one of my favourite Hua Cheng lines in the series... The whole moment seems so emotionally intimate between the two of them—almost like we're not supposed to be seeing it lol.

I am so happy they animated Hua Cheng's line that so long as Xie Lian wants to see him, he will always show up. I have a hunch that this season will end after the scene with Qi Rong in the mortuary. I feel a bit sad that that's coming out soon. Dammit, I'm enjoying this season so much, I don't want it to end!

@Afrin08 I can't spell his name to save my life 🤣 but I know he's lqq. I always find it fun in the danmei community, especially those who read the books, how w only 3 letters we know who we're talking about.

When Qianqiu was telling Xie Lian that he won't become full of resentment like Xie Lian, tears started falling ;_; Xie Lian of course acknowledges himself as not a great a person, so rather than taking those words as an attack, it's a reminder for him.

Qianqiu as the little wooden doll is sooo cute, though :')

And of course, the highlight of the episode is that line that Hua Cheng says to Xie Lian about being able to see him whenever he wants ahhhhh

@frostfire-san I'm so excited to see HC fuming when he sees the statue in the next episode. I want to see furious HC so bad!

Also, this episode was soooo damn good! One of my favorite scenes covered and I'm beyond happy.
"As long as you want to see me, it doesn't matter what you roll!"
Goddamn!

Plus, the pain "I will never be like you" Oh my goodness. I'm going to cry so much in the upcoming episodes!
The way HC realized something is wrong when XL started laughing like that!

Ikr! I'm excited to that too! I'm equally excited to see ****spoiler*** Xie Lian get angry on Hua Cheng's behalf and smack Qi Rong. I can't wait for Hua Cheng to say, "But to some, the very existence of a certain person in this world is in itself hope." As it's one of my favourite lines in the series.

The "I will never be like you" scene was incredibly heartbreaking, especially considering the series as a whole. This scene brilliantly juxtaposes the morals of our protagonist and antagonist.

I wonder how much more this season is going to adapt. Realistically, we're probably only going to finish this current arc (the Gilded Banquet Massacre/Fangxin Guoshi arc) and then the season will end. However, I can't help but wonder how the donghua is going to handle the flashback arcs. Like, are we going to cover it in sections in between present-time arcs like in the novel? Or are we going to get it summarised all at once, like with the mdzs donghua? How censorship will impact upcoming scenes is also a huge worry.

But all in all, whatever they decide, I'm sure I'll enjoy it nonetheless...

@frostfire-san Aaaagh that's one of my favorite quotes as well! I just love how HC validates XL every time despite the latter constantly believing he doesn't deserve anything!

Yuss, the entire scene where Quinqu is screaming that I will never be like you... the reference to XL's 17th birthday :'( sobbing

From what I gather, I think we will see a bit from book 3, the OP and ED subtly hint at the 800 years ago, especially with the broken shrine. I don't know how many episodes are going to be in this season... but I guess they'll probably end this season with a very short glimpse of book 3... I'm terrified of seeing book 3 adapted though! It is going to be gut-wrenching!

Hualian truly encompasses all of the love languages (words of affirmation, acts of service, quality time, receiving gifts and physical touch).

It's quite possible that they'll start off the flashback sequence given the hints in the opening—but it's also quite possible that we won't get it until next season as well given that the donghua has already revealed almost everything in season 1 anyway. I remember that in the novel there was still some mystery surrounding Hua Cheng's identity with enough hints that you could figure it out but in the donghua, they made it obvious from episode 1.

They haven't confirmed how long the episode will be yet—while I hope we'll get a longer season it's more likely it'll be the same length as season 1.

Alight, I'm getting kind of pissed off. I know there's a reason why Xielian killed Qianqiu's family but the show won't tell us what it is.
