Theme: Jeanne, the Leapped First
Explanation: A long time ago, in a kingdom of old, there lived a sorrowful royal. Jeanne, was a very sad individual. They were born during a very dark Violette Moon, on a leap year. As the distasteful fate would have it, they had a very thin presence. Most people wouldn't notice them. What's more, only during a very dark Violette Moon or during a Leap Year, would they be able to live as a normal being. Only during a Leap Year would they be celebrated. As 2024 marks the newest Leap Year, let us celebrate together with Jeanne, the Leapped First.

Theme: New Beginnings
Explanation: Everything starts somewhere

Colors: Dawn & Dusk
Items:

• Watch something listed first in a series
  Item must have a sequel but no prequel listed.
  
  
• Watch an anime that aired first in its designated season
  If there are multiples, you can choose between those; must have aired in that season. State which season (i.e.: Spring 2016)
  
  
• Watch an anime with a character whose name includes "ichi"
  State the character used; Can be main or supporting.
  
  
• Watch an anime that aired on the 1st or in January
  Any day in January or the 1st of any month, of any year.

Theme: Under The Full Moon
Explanation: When January comes around, from the 6th to the 25th there is a full moon in the lunar calendar. The full moon in January specifically is colloquially known as the “Wolf Moon” named after the howling of wolves in response to a lack of food in winter.

Colors: Night sky blue and Moon silver
Items:

• Watch an anime aired on the 25th of any month or aired in January of any year
  Moon phases serve as a visual reminder in our night sky to reveal the passage of time. To celebrate the new year, let’s look back on anime that potentially aired during this same time of the lunar cycle.
  - Aired date must state 25 for the day or January for the month.
  
  
• Watch an anime tagged with Supernatural or Mythology
  Myths of lycanthropy are said to be older than most of our known mythologies and religions, mentioned in Ancient literature and folklore. When the Wolf Moon rises, be careful what you wish for under this night, the supernatural may be hiding in the shadows...
  - Tag used must appear on the anime entry.
  
  
• Watch an anime with moon or tsuki in the main title or synopsis of the entry
  Japan and East Asia have several of their own famous stories about the moon such as The Moon Hare and the story of Kaguya-hime, making the stages of the moon and the viewing of its changes an important part of the culture.
  - The words ”moon” or “tsuki” can be part of another word as well as on their own, i.e. Shingetsutan Tsukihime.
  
  
• Watch an anime with a character tagged as wolf, werewolf, wolfboy or wolfgirl
  Lycanthropy while commonly known now for werewolves in media, the origins are unclear. Some believe it to be from the earliest known work from Western culture, The Epic of Gilgamesh written sometime between 2100 to 1200 BC. A trope as old as this must be used in anime as well so let’s watch some.
  - State the character and tag used; Can be main or supporting; Character must appear listed on the provided tag list and their site (not necessarily on MAL). Alt tags: werewolves | wolves

Theme: 🎉New Year, New discoveries
Explanation: A new year starts, so let's try out some new things

Colors: golden and silver
Items:

• Watch an anime from a NEW franchise
  This refers to an anime you have not watched any related anime from.
  
  
• Watch an anime from a NEW studio
  This refers to a studio you have not watched anything from so far.
  
  
• Watch an anime from a NEW anime staff member
  This refers to an anime with a person in the staff from which you do not have watched an anime yet. State the person and their role. Include a screenshot of the "people" page.
  
  
• Watch an anime with a NEW review posted on the day you started it
  Recommended to make a screenshot in case the review gets deleted. Link the review. Reviews that are clearly spam can't be used.

Theme: A New Beginning
Explanation: We are starting a new year and with it new opportunities. Let this be our new beginning

Colors: light blue/jade green
Items:

• Watch anime that began airing the year you joined MyAnimeList
  We have a new beginning. But there was also an old beginning. Every adventure has to start somewhere.
  First of all, to remind yourself of your past adventure, watch an anime from your old beginning.
  
  
• Watch an anime with the word "new" in the main title
  News. Is there anything new here? Show me what you found. Will this be your titular "new beginning"?
  The word "new" can be used in English or Japanese (shin). It can be the word alone or as part of another.
  
  
• Watch an anime tagged New Year's Day or school opening ceremony
  Everyone has different new beginnings. The new year or the beginning of the school year belong to them. What celebration will you be celebrating?
  State the tag used; Must appear on the tag list.
  
  
• Watch an anime from the studio that released one of your favorite titles
  Do you have your favorite anime? Sure you do. Everyone has them. And every anime was produced by a studio. How about starting something new with your favorite studio?
  State your favorite anime. Must be listed in your favorites on your MAL profile. Can be as Studio or Producer.

Theme: New You, Old Challenges
Explanation: Whether you just joined our club or have been a member since the beginning, you know that we have a lot of challenge. People are always talking about their personal New Year's goals to get so many anime completed the upcoming year or to focus on specific challenges. Some of them possibly are even goals you had of years past that you didn't get to because they involved series too long or too grueling, but you still have dreams to finish one day. This is a marker to try to help all of us reach our goals.

Colors: Believe It Orange and All Blue
Items:

• Watch an anime entry in any of our Series Collections
  Maybe it is a series you started ten years ago with only a movie left, but you kept putting it off. Or perhaps you wanted to start a new series collection because there are so many you get excited looking at them all. We have nearly 100 you can pick from! It makes sense. Follow that heart.
  — State the collection used.
  
  
• Watch an anime that works for one of our Number Challenge items
  Are you wanting to start them fresh with the number one? Are you halfway through and on number six? Second run of nine? No matter which it is, you need only do one item from any of the number challenges. If you have already finished them all, that's awesome! Still need you to watch an item that works for any of the items in a number challenge though.
  — State the Number and Item used.
  
  
• Watch an anime that works for the Game Challenge
  While it is to be considered a fairly easy challenge, it may still be a goal for a different reason. Maybe you want to beat a lot of your games that have been sitting and collecting physical or virtual dust? Wouldn't it be nice to watch related anime to the games you are playing? Or maybe it is just fun to watch anime related to games you've played in the past and want to be nostalgic with relatives or friends you see again after the New Year. Also not a bad way to have a sort of advertisement of a game you've not heard of before to spend some of the "Santa money" you received.

• Watch an anime that works for our BINGO challenge
  BINGO is one of our more unique challenges that gives you wiggle room and freedom for your options of items. It has three runs and only 7 of our members have fully completed it so there is a high chance it may be a fun challenge goal to tackle this year for many. With it being so diverse, it will be easy to get some of that stuff that's been sitting in your PTW too long a reason to be seen! It also stacks well with other challenge goals you may have!

Explanation: Brief information on what it means; Optional

Colors: These will be used on the items; again, what colors do you think of when you think of that particular month?
Items: This is the actual challenge. List (it doesn't have to be fancy) what the user must do in order to complete that month's challenge.
