Doubt it was axed, from the start it always felt like it would be a short series. Still sucks it’s ending, but it just doesn’t feel like an axe to me

Usually, if a manga is going to be a short serialization, they will say so from the get go (Astra Lost in Space, Takopi's Original Sin, and the recent The Soul Spewing Wielder) though I'm not sure that applies to WSJ

The only new manga in WSJ besides Akane Banashi in the last two years that felt like it was going to be a huge hit. Why did it have to fail :(

Damn that SUCKS! I was really getting into it recently. It was like combination of Hikaru no Go + Act-age kinda. I loved it, but I guess JP readers didn't. Apparently from what I heard the first volume had poor sales which surprised me. If anybody here knows how much copies it sold, let me know cuz this is crazy.

@TheColdMayor Nope, it was definitely axed. And yeah, it majorly sucks. The Japanese audience really does not like "cinematic" series.

@ARK-13 Yet on digital platforms, it registered more views than Robocco and Cipher. So it wasn't so much a popularity issue, and more of a platform issue. It should just be moved to Jump+.

@ARK-13 Damn, that's sad. Maybe if they advertised it more it could have sold more copies, but oh well. Hopefully, when the duo comes back with a new manga it goes well. Maybe even publish it in Jump Plus, since I feel like if they moved it there, it could have had a chance to go for more.

Oh well it was an interesting ride, even if it felt rushed.

@JoelSavvi WSJ just had act age "success" 2 year ago. this series just didn't do anything interesting.

Damn Japanese' tastes. Like, they've read a story about FOOD WARS (excuse me WTF?) for years but when authors transit to movies instead of food, they're like, "Meh"??? That cursed Japanese cult of food, I swear...

We couldn't even find out what happened to Tenmaku, the reason behind his sudden death. It was a good story, I liked it a lot :(

@Kuma You seem to be forgetting that after that the massive SJ fandom turned on Chainsaw Man for being "too cinematic". Right now, the JP audience isn't a fan of this style.

@JoelSavvi and they got beaten by bocchi the rock. even more cinematic series than CSM ever was. again, the theme it self is not an issue. it's just tenmaku didn't do anything interesting with it theme. even act age already show both male and female lead potential and issue, meet with big name, and even hinting future plot by 2nd chapter, what did tenmaku did in first 3 chapter? literally nothing.
