Some questions about stuff that the anime didn't give answers to

First of all, what happened in volume 2 of the LN? To my knowledge volume 2 was skipped for some reason.
And what happened in the LN after the end of the anime? Or did the LN end like that too?

I did't read the LN, but if I remember correctly the LN was cancelled for some reason that wasn't announced.

I remember reading some Chinese unofficial translation a few years ago, it was about some group selling body parts of children with the permission of their parents. The duo uncovered the secret and ended further operations in their town but the ringleaders got away and will likely continue to do so. It ended with them pondering the futility of their actions as they failed to save anyone or achieving anything. I assumed it was skipped for OVA due to the victims being children and its the most violent of the three books
