I recently bought the first box set, and I was wondering if it was best to read the manga or watch the anime first. How good is the adaptation?

Watch the anime bro. They did a great job. Adapted whole manga in 25 eps with good pacing

adaption is literally almost 1 for 1 with very little changes

Watch it first, anime cut out a lot of the needless fanservive and made the second half paced much better

I say flip a coin and if it ends up being heads you read the manga and if it's tails you watch the anime (or vice versa).

I did both, either way you won’t be disappointed, I did like the anime a bit more cuz they quality of animation was pretty consistently high, and it showed certain actions that got lost in limited manga Lange panels.

it's a great adaptation and the 1st ED song is one of my all time favorites now as well

if you read the manga you'll spoil yourself the story, but the production of the anime is still very good - art, animation, sound, music are all great.
