we all know that re zero is a pretty popular anime worldwide because of its story and characters and one of the major contributor is the character of rem. If rem was never introduced in the story would re:zero be still loved as much it is now.

Idk about anyone else, but personally I love Rezero for many things. The story, the uniqueness, the art style, and how Subaru struggles through it all both physically and mentally. It was literally my 2nd anime, and I think the art style and path the writers took is what puts it above most anime I watched since. Rem and Ram help boost it, but I think people love more what rem represents throughout it: an all loving companion

If you talking popularity, Rem have a massive contribution due to waifu war & her iconic moment, rejection itself. Rem is one of the most beloved waifu in anime industry, also a meme material. Re;Zero still be a masterpiece without Rem, but Re;Zero won't be as popular as it is now

not for me I think. part of this reason I watch rezero is because of the supporting cast since I don't really like Subaru.
I understand that the death loop is basically the point of the show but it got extremely repetitive and annoying for me but the characters kept it engaging for me.
So Rem being the main person that kept Subaru going in season 1 and her tragic death by Petelguese drove so much emotion into me that without it I'm sure I would've dropped the anime at season 1.

I don't think so, re zero s1 is rated 8.24 with 1.3 million votes and s2 p1 is rated 8.36 with 550k votes by the time s2 reaches 1 million votes i think it will reach a rating of around 8.2.

I'm not saying this based on ratings and more of what I heard other people think. The only negative opinions on s2 I heard were the "too much dialogue" or "it's a sidequest", while there's so many great things people love about it. As opposed to s1 where it felt like the only thing people cared about was the Rem vs Emilia waifu war.

i dont think so... it wouldnt make the show bad but i think it caught a lot of peoples attention because of rem. i dont think it would be much less popular but i think there is a significant impact made by rem

Pretty hard to know, but I guess depends on how the story would be different. If she was not there, my guess is there would be another waifu there, probarbly not as popular, but still. Season 2 is pretty highly rated and gives us a look at this scenario somewhat.

Definitely not. A good portion of its popularity came from Rem.

The only reason I picked this show up was because I saw a character I’ve seen before in countless memes on the Re:Zero poster.

While Rem does contribute to the show’s popularity, everything else about Re:Zero wouldn’t be affected much too much without her.

Tappei even stated that Rem and Ram weren’t intended to even be in the main storyline. The only reason they were there was to smoothen up the progression a bit.

I didn't really like rem. She was decent and supported him, but she was a bit strange. Bit borderline psycho.

BTW rezero had zo much potential, I really liked the beginnings on the market and in the city, where he kept respawning. After that, in the mansion, it got all weird and nonlogical, it went downhill from there.

she only gained traction after Subaru's self beating at the capital, alot in turn because people just flat out didn't understand that sequence as a whole. I don't think the memes prior were enough to watch it either.

Arc 1 and 4 effectively had nothing to do with her either and was entirely carried by other characters.

so yeah, it would have done fine. it's technically canon that she wasn't introduced at all lol...

Season 2 has the same view numbers of Season 1 or more, this should answer your question.

Rem is nothing but an ant in Re:Zero Universe. There is at least 10 Female Characters better than Rem alone in just Re:Zero.

Fun fact characters like Rem weren't even planned in the original story, she is just a side character but author kinda used him perfect way to create motivations etc.
