Shikimori was already very popular in Japan, and there were roughly 3,000,000 copies in circulation for volumes 1-11 right before the anime aired.

It has also won a number of awards over the years. It ranked 5th on the NEXT Manga Award 2020 in the Web Category, it ranked 8th in the General Category of "Recommended Comics Selected by Booksellers in Japan 2020," it won and ranked 9th on the TSUTAYA Comic Award 2020 in the “Top 10 Awards and Prizes of All Time," and the series' Cultural Festival arc in the fourth volume was ranked first place on Magapoke Ranking, according to a ComicSpace interview.

Now let's talk about how much manga sales have increased since the anime came out. By the time volume 13 came out on May 9th, circulation reached 3,500,000 for volumes 1-12.

Serialization for the series started on February 2019, so it sold over 4,000,000 copies in roughly 3.5 years, which is really good.
It's also worth noting that the week volume 13 was released, it reached top 3 in terms of individual volume sales although this was most likely due to the fact that it was new.

Volume 13 also pushed Shikimori to Oricon's top 10 weekly charts by series from May 9th to May 15th.

Shikimori also had many promotions and collaborations, the most notable being a collaboration with Akihabara. If I remember correctly, this is the single biggest character takeover in Akihabara history.

Now let's talk about Japanese Twitter.
The official Shikimori anime twitter account has over 200,000 followers right now, which puts it at the second largest non-sequel twitter account of the Spring season only getting beaten out by
Spy x Family

The anime also got on trending after every single episode aired. Most hovered around 15,000 tweets per episode, but episodes 1, 8, and 12 were much more popular getting 40,000+ tweets, 24,000+ tweets, and 46,000+ tweets respectively.

The series was also pretty popular among teenagers. According to this one site, Shikimori ranked number 2 in terms of popularity for the Spring season.

That's just about everything I could think at the moment. I may edit this post later if I remember anything.
