Well this is based on episode 15 of the series and the first movie of the trilogy ends on episode 12. I highly doubt that there is anything in episodes 13 and 14 that's required for this movie, so you can probably watch it in-between the first and second compilation movie.

In reality this is a sidestory of The Origin manga not the original anime.

Well, it's complicated.
It's not labelled as Origin anymore despite the Doan manga being from Origin itself, so it doesn't exactly fit anywhere on a first time watch, because they add a character that appears much later in the anime and change a few locations. They didn't come close to Gibraltar at all in OG 0079, while they go there in Origin.
Just watch the movies and watch Doan after, if you need context in how stuff changed you can watch episode 15 to see how originally Cucuruz Doan's Island was.

Origin for the most part largely doesn't completely neglect the main Universal Century timeline. But canon wise, Sunrise didn't put Origin within the UC timeline canon. This is why none of the HG Origin kits are HGUC. Nevertheless, it is largely better to first see 0079 first. Whole thing

Best piece of advice I can give is to skip the trilogy and watch the series. M'Quve got completely edited out of the compilation movies and he is heavily in the movie

You don't have to worry about Origin OVA since nothing there got referenced, but stuff from MSG did. I wouldn't worry about Zeta, ZZ, Unicorn, Narrative, 0080, 0083, 08th or the AUs unless you want to dive deep in the franchise.

The first movie adapts episode 13 as well, and moves the events earlier in the series. I think it doesn't adapt an earlier episode, though? I don't quite remember.

If you want to be loose, after movie II.

But if you're tight with continuity. The order of the two main battles in Soldiers of Sorrow is Operation Odessa and then Jaburo.

In Cucuruz Doan's Island, the White Base has left Jaburo and are on their way to Belfast and then Odessa (this is the same ordering as the Origin manga, specifically CDI happens right before volume VIII of the manga)

Novels I have read/am reading pending approval: since November 10 2022

The timing of this movie is slightly offset from the original episode, as they change the setting from Iwo Jima in the Pacific to Alegranze Island in the Canaries in the Atlantic. I'd say watch the original series or the summary movies up to the point that the White Base docks in Belfast, then watch this movie.
