Does oda did not thought of haki in the beginning?

If oda had already thought haki during pre timeskip, how come crocodile who is a shichibukai don't have haki? Or even the cp9?

just because Croc is a shichibukai , doesnt mean he knows how to use haki , at least that's what i believe

look at Buggy , he's literally an ex-Roger pirates crew , his captain is a damn Advanced CoC user

and shanks , also grew up to be a super powerful Haki user

but Buggy ? i dont think he even know to to use basic Armament lol

i mean i understand ur confusion tho , cuz yeah its kinda weird having Crocodile , a well known pirate , with no Armament haki

but i guess maybe there ARE some people that dont know how to use Armament Haki

we never knew , maybe Croc is more into Observation Haki ? Or maybe he's just a noob who relies on his DF power

Well Oda didn't even planned shichibukai from the beginning so I doubt if he planned haki from the very beginning.

He never thought of Haki until the Manga timeskip/2year pause. The story was originally going to be ~5years but it turned out different and many new characters and storylines were established (examples: Mrs wednesday as Queen Vivi, worst generation members especially Law,…). Haki was just a solution to get Luffy to learn new abilities and grow in terms of strength. So if you are a attentive reader/watcher you could theorize about the story ignoring haki abilities, since those mainly exist for powerful fights and ”powerleveling“

The last statement is true but he tries to make his way around Overpowered abilities that you could explain from character to character. (Like OpOp no mi, Mingos indestructable birdcage,…)

Haki was not a fully developed idea until later in the story. CP9 did not really use haki, but Shanks did use a version of it on a monster early on. Conquers haki was made 1st. 2nd was observation haki in Skypea. 3rd was the armament haki.

Armament haki was likely made to make some logia users beatable other than using sea prism stones.

Watch episode 316 where he uses conquerers Haki on whitebeard's crews.
There if you listen carefully Japanese audio,
Whitebeard clearly mentioned that Shanks has a strong Haki and it was also mentioned by his crewmates.

he does though. rewatch the clip, he uses haki to scare the monster away. he saved Luffy mid-bite and using haki before grabbing Luffy could have killed our protag.

He apparently thought of Haki very early in the story, but it seems as if he originally intended for it to be a very rare ability. Then post-timeskip shenanigans happened and basically every named character can use Haki to some extent nowadays.

but thats the thing, i dont think oda planned haki in pre timeskip. i guess the close to haki then was shanks making the sea creature scared flinched with his eyes in those early times (presumably in episode 4 or so). but of course, we didnt know what haki was then, since it wasnt properly introduced in the story just yet.

Shanks literally used conquerors haki in the beginning to scare off the sea king. Also Ace uses it in alabasta to detect 2 people and a bird (or something like that). Haki is there but not super in your face so perhaps crocodile had it

No he didn't.

He had similar ideas from the start but not 100% Haki, how it works, etc.

Shanks did use Haki but Oda (the author) only confirmed it waay later. And Mantra from Skypia IS Haki. It's CoO (Observation Haki).

It was also confirmed about a year or two ago that the CP agents (Lucci, Kaku, etc.) learnt Haki in the timeskip. And the Rokushiki (6 styles/powers) is a similar power to Haki. Like a basis.

Edit: And Crocodile (or Moria)?..

They appeared to early in the story. xD

It's not confirmed but a lot of fans think in in theory that both of them actually HAD Haki but lost it after after failures that happend in their lives.

Since Haki IS a manifestation of will.

Their will has been broken. (in Moria's case after Kaido killed all his former crewmates/friends)

That's why he also became lazy.
