Other than that, I always recommend to go and create an account for Arlong Park forums, where you will find a ton of detailed discussions by longtime superfans and where people like the official OP translator for Viz participate. It's a very controversial decision by Oda and he needs to be careful to not mess up. |

| Why would Shanks in his life ever tell Luffy that he ate the Devil Fruit for which the World Government has been hunting it for 800 years. Just to how many people Luffy told that he ate the Gomu Gomu no mi, you'd think Luffy would be a wise guy keeping his fruit name a secret?? I also think that the Nika Devil Fruit was for Ace on Roger's orders. |

| No idea if Shanks knew the exact name of the Devil Fruit, but pretty sure he knew it was an important one, transported by the WG. And yeah Luffy isn't the type of person to keep secrets, he blurts out whatever he wants to while being honest, Shanks realized that with how he acted in the period he was with him in Foosha village. And of course we might get even more (hidden up to now) backstory when Luffy is going to meet Shanks in person again :) |

| If shanks knew its a good thing he didnt tell because if Luffy told this to someone he couldve expected a betrayl in any time because a lot of people wouldve wanted to hand luffy in. Now if he did not know thats a different talk for different day but I’m leaning towards a theory that Shanks knew and that knowledge and reason why he was carrying the fruit came from inside of Roger’s crew |
| Shanks definitely knows something about the fruit that we don't but then again I doubt he knows exactly what the fruit is either. He just knew it was something very important to the World Government so he being the pirate that he is, thought it'd be epic to steal it. Do note that Shanks could be a celestial dragon as he has some ties with the 5 Elders which is a important key that tells us why he knows something about the devil fruit and decided to plunder the marines. For all we know Shanks giving the Straw Hat to Luffy after he ate the fruit could be his way of telling us that he knows this special Hat has to be together with the fruit. The more we learn about Shanks, our questions will be answered I guess. Until then we can only wait for Oda-sensei to drop another banger of a chapter  |
