What are the main criticisms of this Anime?

First time I watched it without having zero knowledge of the reception it got, I thought it was a decent 7/10 anime. I actually thought it would have a higher score because it does seem like something most people would enjoy.

My main problems with it were the MC being too attached to his Ex, his Ex Saki having a lot of focus on her some episodes while not really being interesting enough to warrant that attention and the dialogue at times wasn't gripping enough to stay tuned to it which meant it felt like the characters were just blabbering on.

Still think it's a good show though.

Yep, I thought it was a good anime, of course is not for everyone.
Very hyped for S2!!!

My main issue was the steel lady case was dragged on for a long time (I felt like it should have been 6 episodes), but that comes from the fact that it was adapted from a novel that was *only* that case. It wasn't until the manga finished adapting that case that it started doing shorter original cases. I think I'll end up enjoying S2 a lot more because of that

I did enjoy season 1 for what it was though, it felt better binging it all at once rather than waiting week to week

It’s nonstop talk where they explain every little detail (I’m a fan of show don’t tell) and it basically boils down to an argument on 4chan

The content adapted isn't suitable for the anime medium. Animes with dialogue can be good if said dialogue is interesting but that's not the case for this one.

Main problem was it's so damm boring. The characters and the OP & ED carried the show. The premise ok but it's so dull it's awful. Really hoping the second season improves though.

I think what my problem with the show is the dialogue. I thought it was not good enough for how much there would be. An anime that also is a mystery but has amazing dialogue is oddtaxi so hopefully the studio doing this anime can maybe get some pointers from that show. Also the steel lady arc lasted for too long in my opinion but i heard the next season the arc’s will be shorter so I’m fairly hype for it. Still enjoyed the show though so i think 7/10 would be a fair rating.

The anime puts far too much time on the final arc. If they did not focus on it so much like the manga, it would have been better.

The anime dragged steel lady story for so long. Some of my friends said that there are 4 episodes of repeating same things over and over.

For me, its has least action despite supernatural genre, Its kinda boring basically whole episode talk about crime how its become crime, how its turn crime and how its make crime etc, ITS totally heavy with all dialogues, feel like watch monogatari series tbh, not my cup, but appreciate thrill in this series so i give 6/10 as i best, because im not into the series. I hope S2 less dialogues

I loved the story and the characters.
However, the main thing that anoyed me the whole anime was the background music.
The background music is way 2 loud and realy annoying with harp music, some times so loud you will have difficulty understanding the conversations.

Maybe they shouldn't have put all focus on the "steel lady" and have given the youkai some more time and love.
But the background music was what realy annoyed me

I like the show, I thought some moments were genuinely funny and the yokai lore is pretty interesting. Not deserving of the "low" 6~ish score, it's at least a 7.

If I had to think of a criticism, it's that some scenes drag on for wayyyy too long. I remember nodding when the epic 4chan forum fight went on and on and on. Same goes for some of the lie-building debates, even if that is sort of the lifeline for this series. I feel it needed something more in addition to the Steel Idol, maybe something a second season would remedy.

Still, it's smarter than people care to give it credit for and the story / character designs are fun.
