Someone told me to at least try Boruto to see if I like it, but I never watched this movie when watching Naruto and Shippuden... So is it necessary to watch before Boruto? Or is it not canon?

(Same question for the Boruto movie from 2015, but I was told that one isn't necessary cause it's covered better in the actual anime)

Yeah you have to watch this.
It's absolutely necessary for Boruto.

Also I recommend you watch the boruto movie cuz its great, but the anime's episode 65 did the ending of it way better. So you could just watch the movie and then watch that episode and then 66. Its your call.

It is not necessary at all, but it is the only naruto movie that adds anything to the overall plot. It isn’t a horrible movie either do I would recommend watching it

This video completely explains the fillers you have to skip and the movies you have to watch and after which episodes you have to watch the movie.

It's not important if you doesn't care how Naruto and Hinata got together. When Boruto starts Hinata andNaruto are married and have children. In other anime series, there is also families with children and they aren't showing how their parents got married or lived before their children. So is Boruto. Anime is about him and important things are explained in anime. The same things goes with every anime movies, if you didn't watched the movie, it's ok. Movie is just better filler (it's not in the manga).

Tbh you have to watch it after shippuden ep 293, just before the wedding beacuse you won't even know why hinata and Naruto is getting married if you don't watch it.

I don't think it's absolutely necessary, but it's worth it for two reasons:
1) This is the story about how Naruto finally figures out how serious Hinata's feelings are for him and he discovers how he feels about her
2) The Kaguya clan is essential to the non-romantic part of the plot in this movie and they are in Boruto too and look like they'll play a major role. You'll recall we were introduced to them in Shippuden.

I enjoyed this movie, but it's a little... odd and a little less action packed than Naruto usually is. I watched it twice to really get it. Then again, I may have been on a lot of pain killers for an injury the first time šŸ˜†
