It needs ~$10.5 million to break Dragon ball super brolly record. ( Dragon ball super brolly did a total box office of $30 million in US)

I dont know much on how cinema chains works but do you know why kny was released in half the cinemas as compared to mortal kombat even though the demand for kny was 4 times higher than mortal kombat.

If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

Well KnY wasn’t released in many cinemas considering the demand for it.

I heard that Monday will be the last day for demon slayer to be in theatres.
"I think I wanted to attack something. Like betraying people or hurting people. And, well, it's not exactly nice, but hurting the readers too... In all honestly, I feel that's what I really wanted to do. For me, as a reader, when I think, "this manga will remain in my heart," it means, for example, it phenomenally hurt me: It's those kinds of experiences I'm after." - Pajime Hisayama (My favourite hurting author).

Because western people who manage all the animation work in the west are always biased with Japanese animation. With each passing year, anime is getting popular.
Like, remember AOT being the #1 most demanded show in US. Then came Demon slayer Mugen train that opened #1 in Australia and New Zealand and was dominating in most of the countries especially Asia.
I guess they saw this storm coming in US as well and guess what? 😂 They were right. Imagine a western movie getting beaten by Japanese animation. You can also check the Oscar history. 'Spirited away' is the only anime that won an Oscar. movies like 'your name' and ' a silent voice' were ignored by them.
I can't think of any other reason. A movie with such huge demand should get more screening but they choose the opposite option.

I was about to make a thread about this because I was curious to see how the Demon Slayer movie did on opening weekend despite the pandemic. When I went to the theater there was a lot of people there, but not as packed when I saw Dragon Ball Super Broly. I'm glad that the Demon Slayer movie did well in a limited run shown in half of the theaters. I believe that if it wasn't for the pandemic the Demon Slayer movie would have smashed the Super Broly movie.
