I don't really know about them myself but yeah, the OG Aikatsu!

That is if those guys really watched it for the plots & cuteness, and not for the creepy pedo stuff.

Yuri on Ice fandom was fun one to be in especially while series was airing, but I bet they are annoying to those outside the fandom..

Gundam fandom apprears pretty chill and helpful from outside perspective.

Fruits Basket fandom has lot of good people, both older fans and new, but especially older fans are too hung up to canon and somehow anti non-canon ships which seems ridiculous to me. Most plp try not to spoil newcomers, but there is some who just spoil new plp especially if they are shipping non canon couple..

It's hard to say, I feel like all fandoms have some irritating parts (for me at least), but also good parts.

If you're an ecchi fan? Other ecchi fans. It's a really welcoming fandom to people who share that similar basis, even in light of the differences that will run deeper than liking anime tits. I happen to be an ecchi fan. I absolutely adore the internal unity and general friendliness of other ecchi fans towards fellow ecchi fans. We've been doing this for 11 fucking years now on this site specifically and likely even longer before then off-site, viewing ourselves as our own thing. And it's great.

I don't think it's as welcoming to non-fans, though. It feels pretty gate-keepy at times, but not on basis like "normie" or "female," just more "What the fuck are you doing here if you just want to lurk the lewd pic sharing we're doing and don't actually like these kinds of anime/manga? You don't belong here. Get out."

Which I happen to not only not mind, but actively approve of. It's like if I went into a space for psychological thriller fans, never shut the fuck up about how I hate that type of series, and then tried getting something else from them for my own benefit despite clogging up their space with my bullshit. It's only sensible to not walk into a space for a certain type of fan and then behave like that and then spout out "I only joined for the pictures lol, i dun actually like ecchi, I think it sux" at every possible opportunity you can remind people. It happens more than people think, as somebody who owned the biggest space for ecchi fans specifically on this site for a long time. And if they acted like that and didn't go silent due to getting shit on by other people, I ended up throwing them out.

And yes, we do like our own, separate spaces from the broader anime fandom. It's why we have three different 10,000+ member clubs that all see decent levels of activity relative to other clubs on this site still, which have struggled since the MALpocalypse, albeit we've all mostly moved to Discord for simple chat due to it being a lot more intuitive than MAL club comments are, and clubs themselves are mostly for event hosting. But, most importantly, it's all the fuck away from you people. That's good. Ones like me that go into a neutral ground like this are rare and there's a reason for that.

So yeah. I love ecchi fans. But I think that's only because I'm also an ecchi fan and haven't had any trouble fitting right in and making friends in that space, some of which I've had irl meetups with. I think people in that fandom will be rough if you just join up to be an obnoxious twat to lurk for lewd pics and don't actually like ecchi. We're all tired of it. We've heard it all dozens of times before. Fuck off. And, personally, I think that's good even beyond fatigue because you shouldn't fucking be there if you're not actually a fan and want to make sure everyone there knows it at all times. Go look up lewd pics yourself, or at least keep your fucking head down and actually, properly lurk and leave us to to our own devices.

If you're actually an ecchi fan though? Join right on in and be open. So long as you like ecchi anime/manga and general and have a decent tolerance towards lewd shit, I think it'll be a great time. In H&E we have like, 6 games people play together regularly on Discord, we host simulwatches twice a week, we have heavily customizable cards and shit, we run tourneys and voting and shit. We'll make you forum sets if you want help with that. Can meet other people who also like all of this weird shit and you don't need to hear the same derivative bullshit a dozen times over to talk to people about these things you like in a way that actually feels normal. I love it. And there's other inferior clubs if the type of stuff H&E offers isn't to your liking.

The old Fate fanbase was easily the Chad of the anime fanbases (for all the wrong reasons). Since lot of people liked the franchise for different reasons, you had Fatefags who liked the visual novel, others who liked Zero, some that liked Prisma Illya...
As a result, you had all kinds of people being fans of the same things for different reasons. And, of course, since everyone wants their favorite entry to be the best, the conflicts were always rising and flaming the numerous threads across all the subforums related to Fate.

The peak of that concentrated autism were the mythical threads that appeared when the remake of the Unlimited Blade Works route by ufotable aired in 2014. Those were the best. Both the episodic and the non-episodic threads were a fierce battlefield were the strong prevailed and the weak was crushed into a pile of spoilers. Those were the brutal times of Fall 2014/the entirety of 2015.
You had different factions: in one hand there were the VN purists, religious fanatics who didn't tolerate any change towards their Holy Book (the visual novel of Fate/stay night) and complained at the slight difference of the adaptation with the sacred texts; there were also the Zerofags, who had the belief that Fate/Zero was the best thing since sliced bread and refused to accept that the adaptation of a porn game would be superior; then you had smaller factions like the ones who read the visual novel and still enjoyed the UBW anime or those poor anime-onlies (called "secondaries" by the other factions) who wanted to enjoy the anime in peace, but were always stomped by the stronger groups. Rumours said there was even a platoon of plebs who dared to say that they prefered the 2006 anime adaptation by Deen to the one of ufotable.

They got so out of hand that the moderators had to lock a collective thread for the series that spawned several pages and forced them to create a club oriented in Fate. Of course, since they were Fatefags, not much time happened until their clashing opinions ended dividing the fanbase of MAL in two forever, which resulted in two distinct groups creating their own Fate clubs.
Unfortunately, eventually the whole hype about Fate died out and, due the huge amount of entries that the franchise started to produce year after year, Fate stopped being a closed lobby and became a mainstream anime. Coinciding with this event, almost all the respected Fate posters started to disappear one after one. Some were captured and banned by the mods, other went into pilgrimage, while others just disappeared from the website.

Though there are still some remains of the legendary users of the UBW threads, with the disappearence of noteworthy fans of the franchise such as Fai, OneTrueEmiya or CherryLover, nowadays the fanbase has lost all the charm of yore. You don't have shitstoms like the ones of 2014/2015 these days, sadly.

Overall, if I have to compare the fanbase of Fate to something, it would be to those succesful ancient civililizations in fiction that got wiped out despite their sucess due their conflicts and personal differences. A tragic tale for sure...

Definitely the jojo fandom. I've had the most fun being in the jojo fandom. Everyone just shitposts memes and spoilers every day without giving a f***.
