It makes me feel so many highs and lows. It's a rollercoaster that I'll never forget and will likely revisit many, many times.

It's a combination of things:

my involvement in the story (has to be gripping),
animation (should be well done or unique),
sound design and music (especially true for me as mostly watch dubs and sometimes that can kick the score down)
well written and little plot holes in the story
and also what helps in knocking the score up is I like to think what I can show to the 'normies' in that anyone could enjoy it (which is why I gave cells @ work 10 because i've shown it to all different people in ages and likes and most love it but would never watch anime when I would probably give it a 9+ otherwise)

It's pretty subjective and there are a few in my list that may not be objective 10's but they are in my opinion on what great anime should be. But I think if there were the option of a 0.5 choice there would be a few that would be knocked down for me (in my list Gosik, Cells @ work and probably S1 of fate/zero) so that's always a conundrum for me when considering giving top marks to these types of shows inbetween the 9 and 10 marks.

10/10 would be a perfect anime, perfect meaning no room for improvement, every anime i've seen can be improved in some type of way the highest i'll score anime is 9/10.

I see you give DBZ a 9/10, so I believe you. On an somewhat unrelated note I'm curious if there are any non-anime films or series you do consider perfect 10/10s and if so what they are?

I'd give avatar last airbender a 10/10 if it was anime, as for movies maybe:

That's a pretty good list, there are some of my favorite films on it but I do have to wonder how you can find some of them to be perfect or flawless. I guess it's really a matter of taste so it's always cool to see overlap between my taste and someone else who still obviously has very different taste from me. If you're interested in seeing how different I have a letterboxd account with the same username and have rated all the film's I've seen so far on your list... I also have a review for both Pulp Fiction and The Fifth Element which should give a good idea of how I feel about those two on opposite sides of the spectrum.

A show you enjoy a lot, though I don't pay much attention to ratings with anime, i don't look at reviews either. A lot of people i feel will review a show and hate on it for it's genre, for example a person will give a 1/10 rating for a romance anime but only ever watches action anime, so for me looking at ratings or reviews is pointless.

To me, it's an Anime which sticks with me for a long time and is just as interesting upon each rewatch~

It’s okay to look back at the past, just don’t stare too long

A 10/10 for me is basically just my own biases in what I enjoy. I don't really tend to treat them objectively.

the anime which is 10/10 for me is that which stays with me for a few days after watching and bothers me at work, home, sleep for-eg fate hf2,saekano etc. and not those mainstream rubbish like snk,my hero acedemia etc.

10/10 anime are the ones that resonate with me a bit too much and kinda make me feel something special. There can be anime that have no major flaw but i'll still give a 9/10. A 10 always means something personal to me.

5 - neutral
6 - I kiiiiiiinda like it
7 - I like it bruh
8 - I really like it
9 - I really really like it
10 - I really really *really* like it

To put it in a less jokey way, a 10 is just something I like more than a 9 enough to merit distinction.

Well, looks like I'm one of those 17% people who vote for this. Actually I kinda confused whether I should vote the first one or the second one because I would gave a high for all of the aspects if I enjoy the show too. So although I voted the second one, I think there's also a series that I put in my fave which not the perfect ten. I'll give a ten for the show that is really great for the story, development of the characters more than the art thou, however even if their art and animation is good but not the story and characters, I couldn't gave it 10 either. Sometimes it's hard to rate a show objectively but I guess it all depends on our taste and feelings in the end

I voted for the first option but in my opinion a 10/10 anime should have all three of the options or atleast elements of each option.

I just go by gut - definitely a mixture of all of them.

I don't have many 10s because there's almost always stuff I think could have been done better or in more interesting ways.

My choice will be the "A show that I'll never forget in my life". I don't really care if it has bad music, animation, story, and character. I don't even care if most of the people hates that show, as long as I love it, I'll definitely give it a 10. For example, I gave most of the Berserk a 10 (except to the sequel). It's because I really loved it, that I can't even forget what was the feeling of relief when I finished its 90s series.

Basically an anime that has an impact on my life, how weird that may even sound. One that makes you silent after the last episode and once you regain senses you cry out for more.

People who would actually rate anything as 10/10 can't be taken seriously. I mean a perfect score is impossible.

That's also most likly the same ppl who rate everything which the don't like as an 1/10 which is as impossible as an 10/10.

Third option it is. I doubt I'll ever experience something like TTGL again and I definitely will never forget it. Mostly because I re-watch it on a yearly basis, but also because one does not simply forget such over the top magnificence.

And realistically speaking, scoring something a 10/10 will always be based on enjoyment and how you feel about the anime, because no anime is perfect no matter how much we tell ourselves it is.

Maybe because you turned into the Hulk afterwards.

A 10/10 is a show that I thought couldn't be any better than it already was.

If it's a 9/10, it'd be a 10/10 if not for a handful of things that - if they had been implemented or changed slightly - would have enhanced my experience even more. For example, if the pacing of Fate/Zero and Fate/UBW had been tightened.

I would say a 10/10 anime is one where I absolutely love every element and my criticisms seem so minor as to be nitpicky.
