Although admittedly, the anime ordering is pretty inconsistent. It's not even in the top 10 of late-night anime, while the ranking of Maidens of Savage Seasons and Dr. Stone is in the other way around between late-night anime list vs action anime (Don't ask why Maidens of Savage Seasons is considered action).

Why do you think this anime is popular in Japan?

It's just one of the rankings, so we can't say this is the most highly rated action anime. But I guess the reason why this anime become number one on the list is because they put aside the CGI and plot, and just focused on the action.

Besides, this series is actually very popular, but the anime adaptation ruin it.

Those list are completely worthless. Just look at that "the highest rated action anime currently airing in Japan" where Araburu is 4th when it's comedy-drama, not action show.
