This is great news! What a coincidence that I just finished season 1 and they announced this a day later. Just started season 2, which I know why it won't be as good, but it's fine.

I hope they don't try too hard to make it better than season 1. I'd rather it be different but with the same quality of writing and directing, because honestly, they'd be hard pressed to find a way to create a better villain than Makishima. I absolutely loved season 1 so I have high hopes for this. Here's to hoping Akane and Ginoza are in it, and Kogami makes a return.

Also, it would be cool if it was a prequel, but I would miss Akane.

So Katekyo Hitman makes his gun-wielding appearance in this dystopian anime? Did they adopt a new character designer?

Honestly, I'm very excited for this!
This is the first time an anime I've really liked has gotten an extra season after watching.
I'm hopeful that they've learned from their S2 mistakes.

My two cents, and sort of what I hope for S3:
I really was not a fan of S2. I feel as if they struggled with writing, and did a lot of convenient-shock value scenes to compensate.
This was my major issue with S2, and what I hope they do not do in S3.

In S1, if someone died or was dominated, it was primarily done in singles or pairs [with a few exceptions; ex, street riot scenes, albeit those had story weight and gave an interesting depiction of how the anime's world would function without regulation.]

This storytelling style had a positive impact on my enjoyment of the story.
It felt like something mattered, rather than something done for entertainment.
[Makashima vs Akane subway scene, mid-series. This sort of thing.]
This storytelling style is what I hope will return for S3.

In S2, enforcers, inspectors and people were killed in masses [pharmacy massacre/warehouse robot-game scene, anybody..?]. I think this sort of took away from the psychological aspect of the series.
There was no excitement to it, or suspense. It was just a bit cheap, if anything -- like, they ran out of storytelling ideas, so they decided to kill a bunch of people to make things interesting.

The execution of S2's villain was meh. [smaller episode limit, maybe? Or just iffy structure.]
Not quite as good as Makashima's.

..It's like, you don't cook the chicken right, so you just put a lot on your plate instead so you'll still have something to eat.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I'm hoping there will be AT LEAST 24 episodes this time around -- if it's another twelve-ep season, I think there could be problems similar with that of S2.

Just finished the first season the other day and loved it. I'm tempted to watch the second season but hear a lot of negatively regarding it, is it really that bad? Lol

Hm, well. A lot of people speak lowly of it, so I suppose you could go in with lower expectations, then decide for yourself? ^^

I loved S1 after I watched it. PP rose to my favorites upon completion [I'm particularly picky with what I like and don't declare favorites easily!], so afterwards, I watched S2 without question -- as I was genuinely curious to see what else there was to the series.

Although I mentioned here that I wasn't a fan of S2, I still watched the entire thing. The gritty-vibe of the universe was still present, which I suppose is what could help a fan of S1 still get drawn to S2.

Hmm I guess I can just add it my ptw list. There's so much I have to watch still. Nice to know a season 3 is on the way though, I guess if it's a continuation though I'll have to watch the second eventually.

I Just FINISHED this anime today! Started it a week ago and binged the hell out of it and I loved it! I bumped it up to a 9 after I finished it for the ending. And now I get the news that there's going to be more! I still need to watch Psycho-Pass 2 but I am hyped for this!

Hopefully it will be as good as the first season and Akane and Kogami should be back.

I really wish that they make the Sibyl system itself the main antagonist this time.

Whoah! what the heck guys this is really happening isn't it? i am so happy but same time worried about the antagonist since they were very week after the 1st season,i hope they do not try to dumb down the philosophical tone of this show to suit the so called (Ahem!) new generation of viewers. also i hope P.I.G makes it or the guy who made fate zero (Urobuchi).

Please make a villian better than Makishima. I doubt it though. The movies sound goofy and elongated along side a new series. ;-;

At first I wasn't sure if you were insulting makishima.. but he was a HELL of a villain.. so pumped for this new season

We'll time to shit on the original even more then? Because the sequel was a complete embarrassment. Movie was only passable and didn't live up to S1.
