Do you know any? I'm not really asking about bara, I'm asking about that kind of unrealistic yaoi portrayal (you know, with bishounens and preferably also the seme/uke trope), just by a male author instead of a female.

I have been trying to find a shounen-ai written by a guy this whole year and I don't think they exist? The closest I've gotten is Shimanami Tasogare, which is more of a general LGBTQ manga and not exclusively BL, although the main character is a gay guy who likes another guy.

Shimanami Tasogare is really good though, at least imo coming from a gay

Yeah and based on what I heard even if there are any male authors they're likely to use aliases, so it's hard to find out. Still, I hope someone knows something.

Oh, didn't notice that Shimanami Tasogare was written by a guy. Thanks. I'm planning to read it soon for this year's Manga Reading Challenge.

I can only second what BackstageMage said. I've had pretty much the same experience, its understandable considering the state of lgbtq in japan that men don't want to write, or use their real name writing bl, though kind of sad.

Whoa, they really are male BL authors! It's certainly a delight to find this out.

Too bad the majority of their works are filth. :(

People already mentioned the few I know here but they're not very good. Like the fact that their dudes somehow doesn't make the male feelings or actions much different at all which was a huge shock to me....

I guess there's a chance of them not being gay, just sorta cashing in on the trend y'know? Their artstyle itself sort of reflects this, it just mimics the stereotypical yaoi hands style. I mean they could be gay, but they also might not be.

Whoa, this doesn't look interesting but at least proves the exsistence, thanks!

This looks a little better I guess, I'll try it out.

Yeah it's weird, I was expecting some kind of improvement I guess, hah. Or at least something more atypical.

The author's Weibo page says male also. I'm reading Here U Are and it's a great story I love the artstyle. But censoring a kiss scene is too much. I'm sad for the author.

I own the Keep out manga (it was published in my country), I had no idea it was mostly by a male author :o Gotta read it finally. Wow I'm generally surprised. Interesting, thanks. I'll see what I can find, some seem to be pretty obscure. Some of those seem to be bara, though.
