So what if that's their life? why do you care? as long as it makes them happy it's fine by me. |

Now you're here to let us know about your "adventure." Funny part is, even if your embarrassing story were somehow true, there's no indication anywhere that you've ever been anything but an asshole. You call the anime community trash, but it was probably you projecting your own ugliness and self-rejection onto it. I doubt you ever formed any real friendships with other anime fans. They probably would've avoided you if you tried as well. Consider your personality. What really makes a person worthwhile? Is it a wittle bit of muscle? Female attention? A little extra money? Do you think these things will sustain anything but a week- or month-long nightmare of a relationship? If so, you're horribly wrong. Personality, understanding, and so much more are what makes a relationship worthwhile. No matter how much "confidence" you have, you're still an undesirable asshole. You never even accepted yourself by the sound of it, and probably felt a deep sense of shame for not being like the normies/conformists you envied. You always saw yourself as they saw you, and so you saw yourself as undesirable trash. And then you began acting like trash, and then you became trash, and that is what you still are. And you're still projecting your inner ugliness and self-rejection onto everyone. Anyway, I had some fun typing that up. Enjoy your wittle muscles, wannabe Chad. There's so much salt in this response I think you just gave me high blood pressure. It's kind of hysterical how bitter the reaction to the OP is. Regular physical exercise has a powerful positive effect on a person's mental state, something you'd know if you, ya know, worked out. Furthermore, getting into shape is a legitimate source of pride: it takes dedication and inner strength. You know what doesn't take dedication and inner strength? Watching anime and saying mean things on the internet. No wonder so many otaku have nothing real to feel proud of. :/ In the midst of you accusing OP of projecting ugliness onto the community, you throw out wild accusations about his personality and social life and sum up a girl as a 'terrible person' for being attracted to him. You certainly are in no position of criticizing someone else's personality, because you've admitted yourself that you enjoy launching vicious personal attacks on people you've never met. While denying the anime community as being ugly, you exemplify the ugliness of the community. And then you wonder why this guy hates the community. It's not at all necessary to cut out all of anime in order to live a happy and fulfilling life, but there are DEFINITELY plenty of people on here who can't find that balance. I'm a pretty aggressive person when someone's intentionally being an asshole. It's pretty simple. He was intentionally being an asshole and acting like he was everyone's superior so I pointed out some of his own issues. Do you disagree with that? If so, I imagine it's because you don't want more negativity, right? That's understandable. I don't see where I said physical exercise is bad. Could you point that out? Also, if you scroll up a bit, you can see that I praise someone else for their body. Yep. You're assuming that this person did something that requires dedication and inner strength. You have no proof whatsoever that anything he did took anything more than a meager amount of that. Until he posts pictures that show the results of his physical exercise, no one does. You're also neglecting to acknowledge all the negativity in his post, which is the most amusing part of your tirade by far. I wonder why that is. Strange. He called you trash as well, you know, but I suppose you're fine with that. Maybe he hit the mark? I have some ugliness, sure. I'm very aggressive sometimes, and I'll happily jump into arguments with people who annoy me (usually irritating know-it-alls or people who insist that I'm human trash). If that kind of person exemplifies the ugliness of the community I'm glad I'm here. This is where I belong, for sure. You're arguing against a lot of stuff I never even said. I'm not sure what you imagined I said but it sounds pretty weird. Maybe you should reread the post you're responding to before you press enter next time? I don't feel insulted by OP because being an anime fan isn't my identity. Watching anime is my hobby, and if his statements on most of the anime community being judgemental ass-hats to each other put you on the defensive, it's only because of the truth in them. I get that you're fed up with OP's attitudes toward you, but he's only displaying these attitudes because he's fed up with the community, something I relate too a little too well. It's hard for me to read your mocking of OP's improved physical fitness as anything other than degrading his choices and accomplishments. But then, I suppose it's certainly possible you were just attacking those for the sake of attacking him rather than out of actually believing something. I assume that OP did something requiring dedication because I am taking his story at face value. I'm not sure what makes you so suspicious of the truth of what he's telling us, other than the refusal to admit that a person you don't like might have done a good thing. Forum bickering is nothing new, but it's a little astonishing to me that you'd actually insult the OP's improved fitness. That's the only reason I really felt inspired to comment here. I didn't. PEDREIVAX said: Hey very solid reply. Yeah anime itself is not a problem. Being a loser is, and anime attracts losers. My life kinda sucked and anime was the perfect escapism. Maybe I should've been clearer about that in the post. When I started hitting the gym I became confident and learned to love myself a bit. There was nothing to love about myself when all I wanted to do was to fap and watch anime. There's nothing to be proud about in that. So yeah, anime is not the problem. Losers and escapism is a problemI was really popular with everybody regardless of my interests though. I was friends with half the football team, the crazies, the ghetto students, the stoners, the "super smart" students, and still went to anime club and was an officer of gamers club after school every day. Then I would go home and type full essays to explain to somebody why something they think is good is actually absolute garbage. Your interests don't matter as long as you're calm and social. All I had to do was smile when smiling was needed and people just gravitated towards me. Of course, I ended up winning best hair and best smile in the yearbook so it could have just been that I'm a sexy beast, but there were other people considerably less photogenic that did just fine because they had something that made them interesting. It's something that everybody has even if they don't know what it is themselves. Being popular also never stopped me from loading up Resort Boin and having a good time either. Anime tiddy is anime tiddy while human tiddy is human tiddy. If I wanna wank to a drawing of a girl getting destroyed by a 2 foot cock I am gonna wank to a drawing of a girl getting destroyed by a 2 foot cock. Honestly all I got from this post is that you're somebody who has little understanding of why people took an interest in you and you think that anime was the reason you weren't popular. In reality anime is very mainstream in the younger audience. You don't need to think too much about what you're talking about to gain a large friendbase. You just need to seem fun to be around. Everybody is prone to giving hints or testing their friends to see what other interests they have. For example, one of my "ghetto" friends whom I had many enjoyable conversations with walked by me and saw my phone's wallpaper. At the time it was fan art of Alice Nakiri from Food Wars. He saw it and said, "Aye, Food Wars is pretty good". Boom, new anime friend. It was as simple as that. But of course there's that whole meme about how nerds and hoodlums unite over their common interest in anime so there's that. But then I had a group of younger friends I would walk home with and one of their phones went off. The ringtone was "Rap is a Man's Soul" from Gurren Lagann. Everybody in unison did the iconnic Row Row Fight the Powa part. We didn't know we all watched anime. We just reacted to the ringtone. TL;DR: You can be popular and get 3D puss while still liking 2D puss. |

Many of us have no problems having successful life while still watching a lot of anime. This community is much bigger than some people being ironic degenerates on internet. But tbh seeing you give so much value to "getting laid" makes me believe you are just a virgin trying to provoke other bitter virgins. |

Not everyone in the community is worthless, I have said that 100 times now. But there are many losers in the anime community! That's in fact true. Having sex aka not being a virign is not a status symbol or shouldn't be. Only people, who build their confidence on status symbols and putting others down / calling them out and calling them worthless, care about these things. That's not real confidence, that's a fake one, imo. And nobody is "worthless" for being a loser. Some do have serious issues and problems, but aren't worthless. Let them be. Anyway, I started new studies, but still attended some of my old lectures, because I'm interested in, I have a part-time job and maybe soon two (one would be more or less voluntary atm, but I always loved to do some voluntary work anyway) and I care about people close to me and try to meet them regularly. Also, I work out at least two or three times a week. Okay, half an hour, but still, I do and I attend always one sport course per semester. Boy, don't bait so much and let me enjoy my animu in peace. ;D I'm an introvert and a fiction lover. I need much time for myself and time that I can invest in some fiction. |

I didn't. Being in good shape is a beautiful thing. you're conclusions are based on your experiences which is not fact. watching anime doesn't mean you're a total shit. maybe in your life yes but that doesn't concludes on all of the people who watch anime. just accept in . be happy with your current you ( don't be a little kid and brag about that. if that is even worth bragging. it's just life.) and move on listen there are many people who's anime is their number one hobby. It's doesn't mean if anime is their life your a total virgin weeb who's worthless (male or female), whose can't do shit in their lives. Anime is just a hobby, like gaming, swimming, surfing, coding and all that stuff. don't say that if you're an otaku it means automatically you're a loser. that is total bullshit. it seems you just made this thread by what you see. mypoint is for those what you call weebs you see in this site. just let them be and move on with yours and don't generalize all the otakus by what you see here in MAL. |

GeneralPantsu said: Started out with DBZ, then OPM. Still felt like a normal person. Then I watched Higurashi and boom I was trapped in the anime world. I watched all the god damn animu that I deemed was not trash. I spent all my days and nights watching anime youtube videos, anime series, anime movies, reading manga, light novels, visual novels, and porn that I now consider totally fucked up. (god damn) I didn't think it was anything bad at the time, because as long as you're not a weeb it's fine. (DENIAL) Also, normies were evil and bad anyways so who cares about being normal. Did I mention japanese music? Eventually I started working out because a friend of mine who's been super skinny all my life started working out and I couldn't stand the thought of him being stronger and more muscular than me. I now started researching how to lift for maximum gainz, which made me watch less anime. After some months, I felt something that I'd never felt before. In school I felt different. I got a lot more attention from the girls who previously ignored me completely. The feeling was confidence LMAO. Girls started coming up to me and be like "Can I touch your arm? Please flex your biceps!" and shit. Now I've come to realise that anime was so damn good because life was so damn bad. If you're a virgin incel you can watch anime and have fantasies of being a damn harem king. Are you inferior to basically everyone irl? Well at least you can dominate someone in the comment section of a youtube video by telling them OJECTIVELY that they have shit taste. Anime is a religion. A bad religion where everyone hates everyone because everyone is trash, watches trash and has trash waifus. Wanna start a big fight in the comment section? Just call someone a weeb, or even worse - say you didn't like their favorite anime. What's my point? Well, life might get less depressing if you aquire currency and aesthetics (which will get you laid with real girls that you can touch) instead of living life like a fapping potato and bitching about useless stuff. Also if you're reading this you're a weeb. This post is fucking legendary. Good on you man! I'm glad you were able to become a better person and improve yourself. However, I still think one can experience the qualities of life and still enjoy anime as a hobby. It only becomes a problem when it takes over your life. Oh, and if any of you guys are wasting your time aruging with someone on this forum, you're proving his point. Just saying. |

GeneralPantsu said: Railey2 said: This is exactly what I'm getting at. I'm not saying anime is worthless, but large chunks of anime fans are losers escaping from their said reality. That was me and now I'm out of it.Y'all just being aggressive cause @GeneralPantsu is fucking the girl that you're dreaming of at night. To be honest, I'm pretty sure OP is baiting, but there's a kernel of truth in what he says. Anime is better when your life is shit. A significant part of the community are virgin incel escapists. Working out would give them confidence and improve their lives. We should all be a bit more like GeneralPantsu. I can admit that there are a lot of people who try to drown their problems in anime, but you seem obsessed with the word "loser". You would love to hear me say that you've been brainwashed by normies, but I think you were never a real otaku to begin with. You just found a few chinese cartoons and then you tried to fit yourself into the mold of that community because it was easy for you to fit into (because you're a sheep). By the way, watching or reading hentai isn't something you should be ashamed of. It's healthy to fap from time to time and live-action p0rn is no better. And now that you became fit and popular with the girls, you decided to expunged yourself of everything that you considered made you a "loser". Your lack of interest is simply a result of anime not being high on your priority list to begin with. It was just a hobby. To some of us, it's a passion, just like reading, doing sports, playing video games, cycling or, in your case, lifting, can be for other people. You just had to come and poke the hornet's nest with a stick called "inferiority complex", all so you could satisfy your ego. At least your inferiority complex got you to start shaping up. It's just too bad you're the kind of people who just wants to fit into the mold of what "society" thinks of acceptable. I'm using "this" on society because I think you're actually still in the fishbowl called high school (or just freshly out of it). Funny thing is: it's a whole wide world out there with lots of pretty different people who mostly don't care if you were the shit in that fishbowl you came from. It's no use calling me a loser virgin too, because I have watched anime more that half my life, from the age of 12 to today, and that's without counting Pokemon, Digimon, Beyblade, Spider Riders and the rest of the stuff I loved even before I knew it was anime. Because I'm a gamer and I also liked that kind of stuff (and I'm also a bit thin), I was always a marginal, but I somehow always managed to find people like me or at least people who accepted me. Even now I have a girlfriend with whom I'm in a stable relationship despite her not watching anime at all, except when I convince her to. I may not have been popular in high school, but I guarantee that if you are passionate about what you do, even your hobbies, people will have no choice but to accept you the way you are. For that you just need to be confident about yourself. You can be happy and still be an otaku. You could even be a buff weeb all you want. In your case, I think your veil of confidence is pretty thin. Maybe you should work on that instead of looking down on people for what they like. |

If I've learned anything is that you lack self-control and can't create a medium for yourself to be a normal, functioning person of society. I didn't know this was a secret but, in case you're unaware: it is possible to be passionate about a hobby (e.g. Anime) and still be a normal person who goes outside, who goes to school, who goes to work, who has a S/O, and so on. People who are in their basement jerking off to their bodypillow waifus are the same type of people who would be passed out in an alley way with a needle in their arm depending on their situations. Weak-minded people with addictive personalities. |

So you guys finally had the ability to piece this together? It's normal that leading a successful, well-adjusted lifestyle, tends to make extremely niche markets seem strange and exclusive. That's because these genres often require immense dedication to fully absorb, and to have this level of dedication you have to sacrifice a lot of your time. Guess who has a ton of time? Unsuccessful and unemployed people. |

This is the most toxic post I've ever read. OP still hasn't realized you can actually watch anime and not be living a "pathetic" life at the same time. The fact that you use the terminology "incel" seriously means you have self-esteem problems. You still have a lot to work on if you desire self-improvement and you can start by not making retarded generalizations and shitting on other peoples' hobbies. EDIT: I'm also pretty disgusted with many of the comments in this thread because there are so many people that are agreeing with OP instead of arguing back and defending their hobbies. I didn't realize most of MAL's userbase were completely spineless. It might also explain why none of the mods have decided to close this thread yet. |

Clanky72 said: Do you know a workout for gaining muscle without spending money for gym/other stuff? Sure. All you have to do is... 100 PUSH-UPS. 100 SIT-UPS. 100 SQUATS. 10 KILOMETERS OF RUNNING. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY! Seriously though? If you're looking to gain muscle mass, you're best bet is lifting, so you're going to need to shell out at least a little a barbell and some weights. HOWEVER, you can still build tone and all-around fitness without lifting. I'd say focus on jogging, stretching and doing push-ups, sit-ups and squats (not a 100 of them though, silly). The important thing is to avoid getting frustrated if you feel progress is slow or you're starting from a point of being very out of shape. Fitness takes times. If you can find space to exercise 30 minutes or more every day, you'll find yourself feeling stronger and happier in just a few weeks. |
