| The kanji 介 appears in many male given names (pronounced as "suke"), such as Gennosuke (弦之介) and Ryuunosuke (竜之介). I cannot figure out what this ending means. In e.g. Gennosuke (弦之介), the first kanji 弦 means "bowstring" and 之 appears to simply be a genitive. Regarding 介, Jisho translates it as "jammed in, shellfish, mediate, concern oneself with", none of which make much sense to me. Can anyone help me understand it? Thanks! |
