I'm supposed to be studying Spanish haha but here I am not having started at all. I would say watch a lot of shows of that language. I somehow learn better when I inference. With rules I have to keep reminding myself and running through principles to remember so it often feels like I'm not moving ahead but the 2 combined is perfect

In this case, I can only echo Grusomhed_D's suggestions. If you talk/write to other German speakers, you can pick up parts of their style and get a feel on what sounds and looks natural for the language that way.
Similar to how people have learnt how to write in English.
I see; I'm also worse when it comes to applying a language compared to comprehending the structure and what is being written or said.

A major difference is that in english they are applied to pronouns while in german they can also be applied to articles, adjectives and nouns. There are also more of them. English speakers also seem to find grammatical gender bizarre. Verbs are also a bit more complex but not much harder than english.

Noun endings usually give you all the needed information:
keit-schaft-tät-ung-ie-ik are usually Feminine (die). And many other examples, it helps you to determine the gender of the noun. Many countries are das, but it is die Türkei, der Iran, die Vereinigten Staaten, etc.,etc.

Nothing unreal here, just like in any other language, it is something you can only learn. Sometimes no rule will help determine the noun’s gender, it is something you can only learn.
