Why is Mob Psycho 100 listed as a Slice of Life Anime?

When I watch certain anime shows I often look at other shows with similiar Genres in hope to finding another show that I really enjoy.

This time I found myself scrolling through Slice of Life anime after watching The Ancient Magus' Bride. Then I encountered Ashita no Joe 2 (which I've never seen) but I've heard people comparing it to Hajime no Ippo so I asked the question why isn't Hajime no Ippo in the Slice of Life category.

Some shows end up not being found where they are supposed to be which might lead to people missing out on them. Is there any shows who's genre doesn't quite add up. I've read the description for Slice of Life and it has made me question many shows that are being potraited in that category. Who decides these genres on Myanimelist?

Maybe because it's anime where you follow Shigeo Kageyama life and his brother as well and look how they getting to know themselves. But you're right and Mob Psycho isn't slice of life too much.

the anime genre still copy pasted from manga genre... the anime skipped a lot SOL moment... i agree that they should edit it...

Just because it's action doesn't mean it isn't slice of life.

But slice of life more towards the light funny side. This one is more like a dark comedy or an action comedy

Slice of Life means mainly that there is not an overarchiing goal or objective that needs to be reached such as becoming the Hokage, Wizard King, Pirate King or Top Hero, rather the plot follows daily life of individuals and there can be various events from small to large scale like in Mob Psycho, but because it is slice of life it does not mean that there are no powers and battles and so on, as that is a different categorization, something can be both slice of life and battle shonen such as Mob Psycho, Medaka Box, Monogatari, Saiki Kusuo and even One Punch Man to some extent from the prespective of the main character at least.

Mob Psycho 100 lost its "Slice of Life" genre over nine months ago (in April 2022). There's absolutely no need to keep reviving this topic.
