Do you think it's a big deal, or that the supposed decline is just superstition?

The animator shortage crisis, seems to be a huge problem tbh.

Hadn't heard of it. I wouldn't be terribly concerned... I'm sure anime will keep going as long as modern civilization does.

In Japan it seems to be going up if anything. There's so many new series being created and released all the time it's hard to keep up. The anime community as well seems to be growing as well with more and more people taking an interest in it.

I will say this though...the anime industry in the UK seems to be declining. I genuinely think sometimes it would be easier for me to get hold of some crack cocaine than it would be to get hold of anime dvd's and manga books that I want. I'm really not sure why this is happening and seems to be getting worse though, since I know plenty of anime fans in the UK.

Most people on this site haven't watched an anime older than 2010, so.

It's caused by outdated business models and low pay for staff especially animators. They need to switch to a streaming/merchandise model and pay their staff a livable wage so there is more employee retention and thus more good anime are made. There's also the issue of too many bad LN adaptations which can be solved by a thinktank consisting of Western, Japanese, and Chinese fans and folks already in the industry to figure out what works in each countries' fanbases and a variety anime can be made accordingly.
