character development?

My brother who has watched all of Samurai Champloo told me that the series has barely any character development in it, and didn't recommend it to me. I've heard only positive things about the series other than that. Is it true?

I don't think so.

Mugen comes off as a brash guy who only fights for himself, and Jin comes off as a cold-hearted person who cares for no one. But as the series goes on and learn about each of their pasts, you realize that it really isn't true, and the characters are more than they appear. Jin especially gets a lot of character development. I don't think Fuu really changed that much, but she seemed a bit more mature from when the story begins at the end.

The relationship between all of them is especially developed. They all hate each other at first, but the hatred disappears slowly each episode. Jin even tells Mugen towards the end of the series, "You guys are the truest friends I've ever had," which is rather surprising, considering how Mugen and Jin constantly say that they hate each other all throughout the anime and vow to kill each other once they finish helping Fuu find the samurai she is looking for.

It is an anime I recommend.

the main drawback is it doesn't tell you what the characters are thinking in the mind, it only lets you guess what they actually think behind the words they speak or mean...So its all realistic..
