Ever since I started working at my corrent job and been spending most of my day-time behind a computer, I don't feel like playing on a keyboard-mouse setup anymore. Sure, I still play some League or Overwatch, but I'd started to like playing with a XBox 360-controller on Steam. Not much beats an hour of relaxed couch-gaming after a hard day of work.

I re-played the Bioshock trilogy with a controller and liked it, and I'm plowing my way through Hollow Knight at the moment.

As I don't want to constrain myself to just playing a specific genre (although I like casual platformers and atmospheric story-telling FPS games } la Bioshock very much), I've got the following games on my wishlist on Steam.

  • Hob (not released yet, looking forward to that one)
  • Yooka-Laylee
  • We Happy Few
  • Obduction
  • Wonder boy: The Dragon's Trap
  • Pillars of Eternity

If you have any info on them, or played them: are they any good? How is the controller support? Any good for casual couch-gaming? How's the text in-game (I often find the text to be too small to read comfortably from a distance, in contrast to console games)? Are they not too difficult to play?

I'd like to keep it casual, I just want to relax after work. Games can be a challenge, but nothing like the Souls-games. I've tried Dark Souls 2, my god... I almost put my fist through my PC, through my wall and into my neighbours teeth whilst he was taking a bath (with bathfoam). Difficulty à la first 3 hours of Hollow Knight and below is just fine.

Feel free to recommend me any casual game on Steam with good controller-support outside of my list too!

Your feedback will be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks!

Feel free to recommend me good romance (BL is fine!) or slices-of-life anime I haven't seen yet!

I just use either a Xbox360 USB controller or a PS4 controller with a program to use it. Both for me, work quite well

I use a XBox 360 controller too. Works like a charm. I prefer games with full controller support though.

Throwing my 2 cents in here, MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies is a beat em up game I would recommend, a good variety of characters and it plays nicely with a controller. I'd also say Castle Crashers and Battleblock Theatre.

Thanks! I'll be sure to check them out, and I'll post some feedback too :)

Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Super Meat Boy, Bastion, Trine, Castle Crashers, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Mad Max, Salt and Sanctuary, Shovel Knight, South Park: The stick of truth

These games are not that challenging and also they are not expensive. As i remember, they all are good to play with the gamepad so you will have no problems.

If you don't like analog sticks, just use a NES controller lol and your set lol

Quoting myself: " but I'd started to like playing with a XBox 360-controller on Steam". I allready use a Xbox controller, I am asking about games to play with it on steam (without having to use xpadder).

But thanks anyway :)

Can't really talk for all of these but i have played Pillars of Eternity and i'm the same, love sitting down with a controller and Pillars of Eternity is an enjoyable game buuuuut even if it does support controller, it would be more frustrating then enjoyable with a controller, a very mouse and keyboard game. So if your looking for casual controller fun maybe give this a skip. Decent game tho and very lengthy

Games to recommend though that have a nice feel about them and are great for relaxing? I just recently played Transistor and Pyre, both games from the same company, i really enjoyed the experience, have a really interesting atmosphere about them. Both on Steam and also both have great controller support (as in, you move your analog stick and it auto changes all the controls to controller inputs etc)

Thanks for the warning about Pillars of Eternity. Will only consider it if I'm feeling like playing a new keyboard-mouse game.

Both Pyre and Transistor look great. Love the art-style. Them seem like games like Bastion gameplay-wise, correct?
Might check them out!

From the company that did Bastion but all 3 games kind of have their own kinda thing going on gameplay wise, i personally didn't like Bastion even though i can see it was good (makes no sense but blegh) but Transistor made me fall in love with the atmosphere and the music and best of all, it was a short game. Transistors about a 5 hour game and Pyre is about a 10 i've heard (not completed it yet myself) so just a solid nice compact experience thats not to short but docent outstay its welcome. Good for after work games though because you feel like your actually making progress with the limited time you have left.

If you ever do try them out in the future, come tell me what you think because i'd be curious.

Game's story limited in time... Great!
You've pushed those games higher on my list :) I tend to lose my interest quite fast, so short games are a big plus.

Awesome, glad to hear it.

Also suffering from that as well, used to put tons of times into games but now days i find if i don't force myself to finish a game i fall off of it (even if its great) so really starting to apreciate those short experiece games, they honestly tend to be the most impactful as well, like i was in a sad mood one day (probably for some dumb reason) and i brought Rime off steam not knowing anything about it at all just on a whim and that was like 1 sitting and felt really fufilling.
