Should i watch Kare Kano?

I really love romance anime and whenever i search for something to watch people keep suggesting Kare Kano. The problem is that i don't like shoujo. The only ones i watched were lovely complex and say i love you, and i didn't like them. So would you still suggest Kare Kano?

It's probably the only "real" romance anime that I like. Didn't even realize it was shoujo.

I really do dislike romance, but Kare Kano is just that good.
Even own the boxed set...

I think Kare Kano is very different from the majority of shoujo. It's got Hideaki Anno's name on it. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I would recommend reading the Kare Kano manga over watching the anime myself. The anime is good but it's an incomplete adaptation with one of Gainax's terrible signature endings.

You mean Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou? Eh sure why not, I am yet to finish it (assuming I won't drop it) but just from the first two episodes alone it appears to have nore proggression than most romance.

It's a really good romance based on what I've seen of it so far. In addition to being funny, legitimate relationship-testing issues come up rather than the typical rival love interest stuff.

Kare Kano is quite good but I must warn you that you may get disappointed on how they handled the ending..

The answer is "yes," OP. Even if the budget runs out by the end and the show falls flat on its face in the final 2-3 episodes, you must watch it if you consider yourself an anime fan. It's one of the essentials.

I think you should. The first 18 episodes are very solid and great to watch. From those episodes, the character development and narrative were very well directed and presented.

First couple of episodes are pretty good. Only problem is the terrible budget in the near end of the series.
