| I've lost track of how many kidnapping/hostage plots we've had so far in Virtua Fighter. I would assume it's a characteristic of late-80s to mid-90s video games, where stories during that time were rudimentary and simplistic. It doesn't necessarily mean the show is inherently good or bad, but it certainly is repetitive. Granted, Virtua Fighter makes no qualms about being anything more than a campy video game adaptation, so I won't fault it for its basic narrative. Also, in just the past two episodes we got additional real life references, Men in Black and now The Blues Brothers, so maybe the show knows what it's doing. The dub is pretty wild. |
