What's the best solution for out of frame PGS subtitles in MPC-HC?

I've cropped the black bars from many of my videos with Handbrake, but one problem I've chosen to ignore until now is that the Blu-rays subs retain the position no matter what, meaning I have to increase the size of the window or play the video in fullscreen to see the subs that originally appeared over the letterbox. This is gonna be a big problem if I ever decide to get an ultra wide monitor. Overriding the placement in the MPC settings does nothing. Is there a subtitle renderer that I can download?

Have you tried using the position subs relative to frame setting?

Besides mpc's internal renderer, you can also try directvobsub or its performance variant, xy-vsfilter.

Yeah, tried it.

Apparently, it's because pgs subs are images, like DVD subs.

I don't think it's working. Or maybe I'm not doing it right.

Thankfully, almost none of my foreign language movies have the subs on the letterbox.

I had a google around. apparently the ffdshow subtitle renderer may be able to resize them. you can mess around with the settings in the video decoder options.
Otherwise apparently this program called bdsup2sub can tweak these image based subs. so that might be worth having a try too.

Convert it to a text based sub format, redo the timing. SubtitleEdit has OCR I'm pretty sure

I tried bdsup2sub earlier, but I didn't see any installer after extracting it.
