Halloween is Coming... What's the Scariest Anime You Have Seen?

Shinsekai yori.The last 5 to 8 episodes had so much suspense and horrific moments that it legit made me almost shit my pants.But be warned that this anime at first feels like a cheesy sci-fi,but trust me and keep watching and i assure you,you wont regret it a bit because it becomes that great.The first episodes were just preparing for the last 8 or so episodes.

On the contrary, I couldn't stop laughing at Shinsekai Yori.

I usually find anime more disturbing than scary, but corpse party is the only one I've struggled to watch. Maybe the first season of yami shibai.

Forgot about higurashi, I have yet to bring myself to watch past the 5th episode.

The higurashi series was so creepy I spent most of the anime with eyes closed x'D

I am no good with the horror genre but Shiki and Elfen Lied were pretty creepy too.

I'll agree on a certain extend, the eyes are just well-done, and fits with the series' atmosphere... The Gothic Shoujo was the ones that will... Yeah... Somewhat scares you...

no anime is scary IMO, anime like higurashi, another, corpse party, arent really "scary" they just have gruesome scenes that make you cringe lol...

but the "scariest" horror ive ever seen is probably Monster, not really scary but i mean its probably the closest thing to it.

No one has seen scary or gore until they've watched or played Corpse Party. That, my friends, is my favorite. I play the show on Halloween every year (even though the show doesn't follow the game.. it does a bit). The game is my absolute favorite game out there. If you want to watch something scary or disturbing, play the game with earphones on or watch the anime.

There were 2 that I remember from the top of my head that I found scary:
- Ghost Hound (those black figures terrify me)
-Shiki (but you have to watch it alone at night)

Oh and the DeadSpace movie was a good one too.

Also, I wouldn't mix up horror and gore with scary. Ghost Hound is not a horror anime but gives me the creeps at all times.

I think Corpse Party and Higurashi. The death scenes, screams and torture scenes lingered in my mind for days.
They still kinda do tbh.

Another so far. It has some of the most brutal death scenes that someone can experience. Also, that fat lady was pretty creepy. She looked like the zombie of a slaughtered cow.

Higurashi (shivers)

others which are pretty good in terms of horror anime and/or being disturbing;

Kagewani
Mononoke /Ayakashi (same character in both)
Requiem from the Darkness
Cossette no Chouzou
Gakkou no Kaidan (the SUB is good horror, the DUB is comedy for 12-year olds)
Kamisama Dolls (surprisingly good horror, but ends too quickly, 2nd season never)
Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu (very close to the manga, much enjoyable)
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Rozen Maiden (2013)
Yami Shibai

Agreed on Euphoria.

Corpse Party was anything but scary in my opinion. It was just gross, nothing else, but you won't scare me like that...
