| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Pretty solid first chapter. It's not really all that different from the anime, which is to be expected but since most of Level E's best jokes come from plot twists (such as the shape-shifting alien being his pet instead of him) which negatively impacts how much I'll enjoy this manga probably. I didn't laugh a whole lot here compared to the anime but I still find the set-up amusing & had a chuckle or two. The art in the series seems rather inconsistent, mixing what I've come to expect for Togashi with these weirdly detailed versions of the characters. Togashi's got a great sense of shading here though it's application here in only small intervals don't seem to gel that well with the humor so far. But maybe that's because I already know the punchlines. |
