Japans side in "Joker Game"

So I started watching Joker game and I like it so far. My question is, which side is Japan on in this series? I havnt watched far at all so I havnt seen anything. Are they on the Nazi side or are they on the side of the allies? Or does this play out on an entierly fictional universe and they are on neither? Is this even the WWII?

This is obviously an alternate history because it is fiction. But it plays out before/during the second World War, and like stated in the third episode, Imperial Japan sides with the Nazi Germany.
