^What the title says. Pls suggest between 5 - 10 anime at the very least as I've probably watched most of the titles that you may be about to list.

I think what the OP wants is anime that will help him find arguments to understand his own depression and fight it. Like Evangelion when Shinji questions his existence, and found a reason to keep his own identity, not giving in to the collective mind.
Though not arguments like One Piece or Naruto give "fight for a greater purpose or for your nakama"

If there's one anime that will test your depression, it's this one.

Mousou Dairinin
Ergo Proxy
Texhnolyze
The Flowers of Evil
Perfect Blue
FLCL
Aoi Bungaku Series
Argento Soma

There's also Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, but that's more of a black comedy.

I've been there...so, these shows actually helped me. Sorry if they don't have the same effect on you.

Serial Experiments Lain
Haibane Renmei
yojouhan shinwa taikei
hachimitsu to clover (needs the second season)

Colorful might also be good but I felt it was a bit too moralist, specially since I am not religious.

the list is updated but when you go into OP's list you go immediately to the ptw and not to the completed part.

nah haven't watched them yet

My "watching now" list is highly deceiving because I don't bother to choose the "plan to watch" option.

Colorful (Movie)
Kokoro Connect

But for me when I get depressed mostly helps really warm anime that just makes my heart melt. For example Usagi Drop.

Haibane Renmei
Colourful
Evangelion
Tatami Galaxy

for the introspective negative outlook - lain already suggested these

Planetes
Mushishi
Uchouten Kazoku

for the inner peace and acceptance, these shows are more 'friendly' but still generally garner a positive peaceful outlook.
the official MAL hall of fame/cursed comments is now open for business - you are welcome to PM me any potential quotes to include
