Personally, I don't mind the fan service, as it gives the show humor and enjoyment. But I wouldn't enjoy it as much if it did not have the anime did not have a plot, and this show probably has the best plot of all the ecchi/harem genre animes. So my question to you all what is the reason you watch this show?

plot mostly but the " plot " really declined in this last season.. in my opinion season and season 2 were a lot better.

The plot of course. I read the light novel because it had a decent plot and the anime started off good too, DxD's plot was decent but it wasn't the best. Then later the plot became boring and I lost interest in the plot and I lost interest in some of the characters, so I stop reading the light novels after volume 13. The first season's fan service was pretty funny but after the second and third season the fan service was just plain stupid and annoying especially the third season.

Both the plot and the fanservice are pretty bad because they're totally incompatible. The plot makes it hard to lean back and just enjoy the fanservice, and the fanservice is so incredibly poorly timed that it just distracts from the story. So I guess... neither? Actually I don't even know what the exact reason for watching DxD is supposed to be tbh

I gotta say i love the plot and the fanservice. as HaXXspetten said the fanservice is "poorly timed", I totally agree with that it is badly timed but i just think the anime is not trying to be perfect and i wanna enjoy it while it lasts.

I had avoided watching this for literally years because I was more into slice of life harem shows, I thought plot in harem anime is generally pointlessly convoluted and especially so when I'm looking for some fanservice. But I was surprised by how engaging the story became once the sacred gears came into the picture. The character and weapon designs that followed were top notch.

However, the real reason I'm watching this is for the comedy. The moment I lol'ed at Issei begging to be let into the house of his summoner, then offered tea, I knew the writers were on the same wavelength as me in terms of humor, which doesn't happen often in anime. Breast Dragon Emperor...sheer genius.

You really are a stupid one if you think this is watchable without plot. If the weren't any boobs in it, it would be a really, REALLY crappy anime.

Same. Fanservice is great, but I wouldn't watch an anime solely for it as I find those sort of shows get old quickly. At the same time, while I'm a big fan of supernatural beings like demons, angels and etc, I don't think the plot of DxD alone could hold up on its own. It's the blend of fanservice, humor and plot that makes this series enjoyable. Just hoping next season can get back on track and rediscover that balance.

Why lie to yourselves? The plot is garbage, you all watched it for fanservice.

I actually watch it for the comedy. English dub Issei may not sound the best, but is hilarious.

Define plot.

When I first started this series, it was merely because of fanservice since the bitches were hot. Then I realised there's a story so now it's both, because albeit the plot is somewhat intriguing, if the fanservice didn't exist I'd have dropped it.

For The Characters interactions and world 40% And Dxd has like very large world and tiers of chars aside from main cast.
40% story and kickass action
Rest for fanservice.

I am like 1 of bigger fans of this fransize, even 3rd season despite filler episodes and too many soapy non nessesary almost twilight moments that made me vomit in said episodes also Diadora and Asia just wasted screen time tbh.
