I remember the first episode that I saw was Before Brandon had died. Was this the first season? Because I've been looking around for what I think is the first season but all that I can find is the normal opening scene where "Grave" starts kick arse. can anyone give me a reference here?

The first episode takes place in the present. The next episode starts the extended flashback you are thinking of. I hope that helps.

first episode was kinda taken from the middle of the show and put in the beginning so that people will know that this is a supernatural show... so that they couldnt drop it when they arrive at the supernatural scenes
