What was the best year for Anime?

| Easily 2012 for me; Sakurasou, Hyouka and Kokoro Connect and just consistent quality throughout. 2008 is a good runner up. That said, my opinion could easily be changed as I watch more anime since I've only been around for 4-5 months |

| For me personally... I'd say 2011 gets my first place vote. Steins;Gate and Ano Hana are two of my favorite anime of all-time and I'll admit, Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero, Usagi Drop, Nichijou, Chihayafuru and Gosick all being outstanding as well. There were some underrated gems like Dantalian no Shoka, Kamisama Dolls, and Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi (a series where I'm sure I'm one of the few that like it). The next one that comes to mind is 2007. Clannad and sf-a tale of memories are a few of my favs (well, AS which came in 2008). The reason why I give 2007 the nod is due to TTGL, Lucky Star, and Gundam 00. 2008 is a very close third (to second). Clannad: After Story is probably my second favorite anime of all-time...it might be first, but I usually go back and forth on it along with sf-melodies. Spice+Wolf was outstanding as well...Soul Eater was a lot of fun. Macross Frontier and Gundam 00 Second Season were all pretty good as well. I'd probably give fourth to 2003. Last Exile stole the show for me, Fullmetal Alchemist was a fun anime (even though Brotherhood was better), Chrno Crusade was the first anime to make me cry, and FMP! Fumoffu is still to this day one of the funniest anime I've ever seen. If I had to round out a top 5, my fifth place vote would probably go to ugh, tossup between 2002 and 2013. 2002 had GITS:SAC, Full Metal Panic!, and Gundam Seed. 2013 had Little Busters: Refrain, Shingeki no Kyojin, Monogatari 2nd season, and White Album 2. A lot of props to 2009 too with Bakemonogatari, FMA: Brotherhood, Spice+Wolf 2, and Senjou no Valkyria. So to rate them... 1. 2011 2. 2007 3. 2008 4. 2003 5. 2002 6. 2013 7. 2009 I didn't list them because my anime viewing experience pre-2000 is pretty limited, but it looks like there were some pretty outstanding anime that came out in 1996 and 1998. |
