Anyone who got FF13 today will have noticed a small problem occurring with others who have got the game.
SO... anyone who got FF13 what do you thing of the 720p / Rez lock. Lack of graphics options and 60GB download + 120GB unpack? Have SE fucked up, has it affected you, will you get it still?

I Pre-ordered the game thinking I could lower texture settings or something and now the game is unplayable for me. The 60GB hit me at 9PM last night so I had to leave it going all night and most of today downloading and now I can't even do anything other than see the 120 GB of space it took up.

Oh.

Well it's in 60 fps it seems. It looks better than the ps3 version. It has jp audio which a lot of people wanted. 120gb unpack? In my files it's only 59395mb (just under 60gb).

Keyboard controls are great, you can use the mouse in conjunction with the keyboard for camera control and choice selection.

No option to remap controller buttons, which is a problem, as the game has its own buttons mapped out and they aren't correct for anything other than 360 controllers probably.

Bottom line: I like it. No video options but that's fine for me, my PC runs it great, I understand that's a huge issue for some though. I want them to patch the controller thing though.

Lol. Square doesn't know how to do PC ports. Their FF7 port was awful back in the day too. Most likely will be fixed with mods in time.

Final Fantasy 13 PC?

Not even worth the power it would take to pirate it.

Best way to beat piraters. Make shitty games that go beyond 100 gigs

People are surprised at the file size? I mean just look at all the cut scenes.

I wouldn't call it a "shitty" port though. There are worse out there.
Aside from the locked 720p resolution, the game runs very well.
and the locked resolution can somehow be fixed by downsampling through GeDoSaTo.

I'm just happy I can play it since I don't own a PS3 :D

True

Played the game and tried to set it to max performance with vsync. I'm fine with 720p but the freeze when starting the battle is really frustrating. I don't think I can do a preemptive strike. Don't think I'll spend another 90 hours on this port.

Do you guys prefer english or japanese audio? I, like most of you, watch anime in japanese but I'm not sure if it's possible to have japanese audio with english sub. And is the game really like all anime? Which one is "intended" audio? The Last Remnant for example had no jap audio+eng sub option so experienced it in english, which was poor enough but I'm not sure if japanese is any better. I never actually played a game with japanese audio, I think it can be really exciting... here is hoping they didn't forget sub option with it.

Well, I always thought games made in Japan where characters are first voiced by japanese seiyu, are supossed to be with original audio.

For that reason I still haven't played FFXIII.

Also, from what I saw about Lightning's design, her voice actress Maaya Sakamoto seems like a perfect fit, considering characters she voiced before.

And it's not just about that, when I was comparing some english and japanese versions, many characters seemed totally different - for instance Liquid Snake voiced by Banjo Ginga gives whole different feeling than in dub version when he is voiced by Cam Clarke.

The main reason the size is bloated because the cutscenes are badly compressed (they probably aren't even compressed at all) video files, and the game has separate files for the English and Japanese audio, since both versions have different lip sync, so you can't just change the audio.

Only 60? That's nothing on a PC.

No problems with the file size, but I can't believe they think it's acceptable to release a game in 720p on PC. And in addition to looking like shit it won't even run at a decent frame rate.

I'm fine with 720p. I honestly don't notice a difference.

I have problems with FPS too though, getting random drops looking at certain places. I don't understand this at all. Didn't this game run on PS3?

The game runs at 60fps instead of whatever it ran on, on the PS3/360. Consoles in general have much steadier FPS performance as developers optimize the shit out of their games (at least if they're decent developers). But everyone has a different computer so that's harder to do for PC games or ports and keep everyone satisfied.

Which is also why nvidia branded games work better on nvidia video cards.

I see no problems with standard res since it still runs at way higher fps than consoles. And with the res unlock, this is amongst the MOST beautiful games on pc.

The game sucked anyway. I had it on PS3 but I traded in after a month. I forgoet to mention that the copy I had was already pre owened. I liked the story but the gameplay was just dead. I'd prefer if it was just a movie. Worst introduction to a franchise eveeeer

I liked the soundtrack though
