Yohko is a friggin Mary Sue (at least for now), no space flight training, no manual, no shit...and the race officials are bonkers for sanctioning her finish when they should have declared the current race was no longer valid because of the star's condition. This could be like Star Trek's Kobayashi Maru test, points for thinking out of the box, I guess? XP

The real question here is why people 1000 years in the future design a ship that can only be properly understood by primitive 20th century minds that think 32-bits is a big deal.
It'd be one thing if they were all gamers in the future, and that would make sense. As it is, it doesn't make sense and feels like a 90's gamer sci-fi fan wish fulfillment scenario.
I like Yohko's design tho, I love cat eyes and that short hair.
Seems a bit dull, the whole thing with needing girls from the past doesn't make much sense because they never bothered to explain it, and this anime relies too heavily on tired 90s anime tropes. So far not impressed.
This feels camp. I had a concern that how do these students learn how to pilot, but apparently it is so similar to video game controls that it is easy to teach within minutes, though that to me seems unbelievable.
Glad to know that Asuka's voice actress is here. She doesn't sound like her but she's cute.

Surprised to see a lot of people didn't seem to care for this. Never heard of it before now, watched just this episode but was really impressed. The animation is nice, the girls are cute, and it has a nice ED song. Don't know much about what's going on, but the story is the least of my interests. I just wanted a pretty OVA to watch and this seems to deliver, so far.
