First, I check my library.
Then I'd read online. If I have to, I'll download scans, though I'm not too fond of this tactic.
If I really like it, I'll buy it at Barnes & Noble.

And if I'm broke and I really want to hold the physical volume in my hands for some odd reason, I'll just go sit around a bookstore for a couple of hours and cram some reading in. :U

What's wrong with downloading the scans?

I guess moral problem it is. Breaking copyright law isn't something you could proudly say...

Always purchase because I collect.

Those that I can't buy, I read online though.

If I can get the manga I want to read at a bookstore, I usually purchase them. (also for collecting purposes)

But if there's a series I'm interested in and it isn't published or released in America, I read them off the net.

I would like to read more scans online, but there is something always better about having it (manga) physically in your possession that makes it more practical and more personal for me.

This, basically~
It's nice to have the books for yourself, to keep ^-^
But some manga, like Hatsune Mix, I have no choice but to read online because they're not sold at the local bookstore! D;

I read on onemanga, and if they don't have it I download from mangatraders or mangahelpers.

I don't know why people buy manga anymore when you can get them faster and for free with nothing but an internet connection. I guess if your eyes get hurt from looking at a computer screen thats one thing. But if its just the principal of it all then thats something else entirely. I'm not willing to fork out hundreds of dollars for moral values.

I picked other because I read them anyway I can. Through retail, through libraries and scanlations. I prefer to read them through buying or my local library (if they have it in stock). Sometimes I request stuff through my job so I can get the chance to read it. I like reading manga on my commutes to work or to kill time. But I hardly read at home on my bed. Unless I really want to finish it before getting it back to the library.

The only way if I will read a scanlation online is if it's being hosted on a trusted site. There are too many sites that contain backdoor bugs. I've had two attacks at my job computer because of it. And I'm not even DL'ding anything. At least the good thing is the security here at the college is stronger and will remove the problem right away. I couldn't do this at home. Not to mention I don't read scanlations on the computer at home anyway.

I mostly download or read online, especially for the long running weeklys, but if I love it (gintama and sayonara zetsubou sensei) I'll go and order it online, shame the US translations were so poor, Cough Syrup -.-

stage 1: read online.
stage 2: (if I really like it) download and read offline.
stage 3: (if I really REALLY like it) buy official release as soon as it comes out. So far on this list are Berserk, Pandora Hearts, Blade of the Immortal, Angel Sanctuary, Bleach (up to volume 20, 'cause it's all downhill from there!), Crimson Shell (due to Pandora Hearts withdrawal), and Devil May Cry 3 (because I will buy anything with Dante on it...)

I much prefer reading manga in book form but I only buy my favourites so I try to borrow the books from the library or a friend & if I can't do that I read them online.

Nothing beats reading a book in my opinion! =)

I mostly buy the manga I read. The stuff that isn't licensed I download and read offline with CDisplay. And I'm too impatient to wait for One Piece releases so I read them online, and Bleach isn't worth buying or downloading so the same goes for it.

umm...all of the above? Although mostly library and internet, seeing as they're free, but I do actually prefer to read it in book format rather than on the internet, so I'm slowly but surely accumulating a good collection at home ^_^

lol when I first saw this topic... How do you read your manga?...I automatically think "Right to left" XD Anywho I normally read online since I can read them freshly translated from Japan and not wait for them to come out in actual volumes, plus the money thing. I do buy my favorite manga or manga that I really like the style of. As for the library... well my library has about three series, the biggest collection being 1-8 of One Piece so not very helpful.

I bought them in bookstores after I've read them online.xD
But sometimes I purchase manga that I don't read, too.
There's a collection of manga in the library of my old school (which is catholic) and it's all about pokemon, medabots...
But when I changed schools, my brother told me that their collection has naruto, negima, all sorts of popular manga that you can purchase anywhere.... but I don't like them really much :D

In my country, Norway, there ain't much manga/anime. So when I first find some anime/manga, I'll buy it. However, in the city (45 minutes with bus) there is an otaku shop where you can buy manga. They have the most, but it's not cheap. Maybe around 12$ each book. The bookstores don't have manga, so it's not even worth mentioning it.

In the same city, there is also a library. Here they have some manga, not much, but enough. I can mention some of the series; Naruto, One Piece, Death Note, Love Hina, Nana, Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha, Battle Angel Alita, Genshiken ++. So I'm visiting it once in the month.

Normally I'm reading scans online, but of course not the series on the library, excluding weekly releases. Also, I have bought manga from the internet, but that's not often.

I do everything on that list (except order used off the internet).

Only depends on the manga, there are some that I read the scans (online or no), others purchase from a bookstore, others I go to the library and buy them, others order from Japan.

But I mostly download scans and read them from computer monitor because it's hard to buy every single manga you want to read.

I've read majority of my stuff online, but awhile back I found out about inter-library loans and my schools library.

Starting to get a lot of series from libraries now, although, the selection is not perfect (inter-library loans take like 1-3 weeks to arrive) and my library at school only has like volumes 1-15ish of series, so I can't full read some series.

So basically I continue reading online, unless I have a chance to get them from libraries.
