My parents don't care anymore. I've always been into "strange" hobbies, like videogames, so this is nothing new for my parents. It was a little more confusing, but now my mom only freaks out if they cuss. "This is for children!?" she asks. Um, yeah, mom. Samurai X. Great children's show. She also didn't like that Haku was calling on magic to break Chihiro of her binds in Spirited Away because he was calling on spirits. I feel it's a little hypocritical since she has read and watched Harry Potter...
But now she's pretty okay with it. I don't talk about it much with her, only to tell her of cheap deals I got (she's Dutch, so she likes hearing about that). I managed to convince her I watch anime because I am learning Japanese and it helps me study. At any rate, I don't spend a lot of money on it (not that she knows, anyway), so she doesn't care.
My father....doesn't really care. At least, he never really says anything about it. He did wonder why the subs and dub lines didn't match up one time when I was watching Wolf's Rain in English with the subs on.
My eldest brother and I never talk about anime. He does ask me about certain shows that I let his daughter watch though. "Is this age appropriate for her?"
My middle brother used to make fun of me for it, but now since his brother-in-law likes it he uses it to try to hook us up, which I find annoying.
My middle sister thinks it's stupid, but I hardly talk with her about it anymore and she leaves me alone with it. She's more concerned with videogames and playing on my Wii to get me upset.
My eldest brother's wife thinks it's stupid, but I hardly talk to her since she's kinda.... The only time she really talks to me is when she wants to babysit.Even if she did say something, I wouldn't pay any attention, as she's still convinced that Pokemon is evil.
My middle brother's wife has seen some anime herself, though she's not into it. She doesn't talk to me at all, but then she hardly talks at all. She's super quiet and timid, and mostly hides behind my brother.
My aunt and uncle don't approve, but I'm not their kid, so they can't say anything. I do feel bad for my cousins, as they are both into anime as well.
My grandparents don't know much about my hobbies, though my uncle doesn't like the style or the stories. He's seen some anime, but nothing good, so he has a very negative view toward anime. But he can't talk because he's a big lold school Disney fan. |
