I'm enjoying my second watch of the GS after reading the LN. They made it so easy to hate the goblins and identify with the MC.
The weak minded who get triggered by animated fiction will always ruin the fun fantasy and action genre's for everyone else. I saw the same thing happen with Black Lagoon.

So this is the controversial episode everyone talks about?

Well, I can understand why. It's dark, and it kind of just throws it at you with how brutal everything is.

It's interesting, though; I'll give it that.

I prefer Zelda, Saga of Tanya the Evil, Battle Angel Alita, 99 Nights, and even Queen's Blade to Goblin Slayer ep 1. Girl should've practiced more.

Everything I saw saying to watch this said that the first episode was really terrible and from the second on it got better. I'm wondering if it is just a bunch of woke people who can't handle monsters doing monstrous things, or if it's that the story doesn't kick off until the second. I'm guessing it's the former seeing as you can't say, let alone "promote" something dealing with words such as suicide, dead, killed, rape, gun, terrorist, and so on without being cancelled/demonetized on streaming platforms.

Either way, I enjoyed the first episode so I'm hoping it lives to the hype and I'm ready to binge some anime on this fine Saturday.

"I'm 15 I am an adult now" *Oh no* Tbf I felt like an adult when I was 14 and it's prefectly normal to expect someone to be an adult mentally at the age of about 12. I at least was and in many cultures that's pretty much the age of "you are responsible for your own actions now" and I think the modern western attitude is actually unhealthy and causes a lot of kids between 12~18 to be way too irresponsible and childish because of lack of accountability.
But 15 feels like a weird age to be "legally an adult" like 12-16/18 being "You're responsible for your own stupid actions but not financially a full grown adult nor physically etc."
Makes more sense. But yeah even just that one extra year feels a bit iffy. Especially for those who hit puberty late... like I was pretty much done by the age of 14. And heck I've seen people who went through most of it by the age of 12. But I've also seen people who only started hitting puberty when they were like 15 so... I dunno 16 or 18 is defenitly better from a legal point of view.

2:00 "It's a dogtag if you die, we'll know it's your body" Subtle, subtle...
2:50 Red flags, red flags major red flags. I feel like the individual behind the counter should warn them a bit more... like she's clearly not telling them something.
Like at least properly warn them. Instead of that half-assed warning and just letting the rookies go in blind and over confident.
The Front liners straight up abandoning their back line is so stupid, but painfully realistic for 15 year olds.
Like I want to blame them but also, that's 100% the guild person's fault. Like wtf is this system of just letting a bunch of 15 year olds with 0 combat experience go into a dangerous situation with 0 experienced members... the mortality rate has to be insanely high if there is just nothing preventing them from doing so.

You know I was wondering why people were so "weird" about this show but yeah... that makes sense it has violent murder and rape of 15 year olds.
Instant respect for Mr. Goblin Slayer though.
Including him killing that girl to end her suffering. Still kind of blame the guild for all this though and lack of proper education on the actual dangers.
"I killed them, not just the men but the children too"
Like damn how can the guild receptionist be so "guilt free"after that she didn't even seriously try to stop them. Yes they are stupid kids, yes they didn't prepare, yes they were over confident. But that's exactly why you should have insisted they waited for a more experienced fighter. I do respect the protagonist as well though.
And I understand that this world simply "is like that" but I still think there should be a bare minimum of education I mean all of those 15 year olds had enough skills in theory, they just lacked all knowledge and wisdom. With a few simple adjustments and information about battle they would have all survived just fine.
So whatever schools they went to certainly failed them in that regard.

I briefly checked this anime few years ago, but didn't picked it up thinking it would be another fantasy/harem/ecchi anime after skipping through this episode. But now I've decided to give it another shot because of the Brown Dust 2 collab.

The mage's death seemed forced, let's kill her for more impact, maybe a reason why? Idk maybe mention she became unable to move even if cured due to effects of poisoning.

Could've been more graphic though, not in the sense of nudity because we got plenty of anime there. Back in the good old days we would've gotten some ghastly and traumatizing scenes.

I can't fathom how this episode ended so fast, it hooked me.

very raw to say the least, really put in prospective the dangers of adventuring which other anime's never show or acknowledge; its a shame though, that the mc has plot armour and and that this doesn't follow on in the later ep's.
