What's so good about Esdeath?

Esdeath happily ordered a whole squadron full of soldiers to literally rape a town. And people (fans) are cheering. Oh, but she loves the main character, and aside from all the atrocities she's got a really kawaii side, too!

This would be like arguing that Josef Mendele wasn't so bad because he took great care of an orphaned puppy for a few years. Forget the twin brothers and sisters he sewed together due to his twisted psychopathy because he's actually a sweetheart!

DAFUQ IS WRONG WITH FOLKS???

Let me add that I see tons of people saying that she gets development in the manga and that magically makes all this better somehow. A lot of the people watching the show are doing just that: watching the show. Promising them that things will *eventually* improve due to your foreknowledge of written events is less a deterrent and more a desperate plea to hold the attention of disillusioned viewers.

Why can't the quality of the writing now simply speak for itself? Why does it have to be defended in the first place? Can't the show progress without all these forced attempts at being 'edgy' or 'funny' without truly succeeding at either?

But no, all these concessions are made - just hold on, you'll see, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain because he knows what he's doing. It's like listening to political commercials - it just makes my headache worse.

She has development in the manga as well as the anime. Before her only interest was conquering people and torturing people. She lived for blood, battle, and torture. That is her job and the environment she was raised in and lives in. This type of warfare is normal in the capital. But at the end of the day she is still a woman, and has desires. Hitler had a wife. She wants to fall in love, and she even admitted that meeting and falling in love with tatsumi has started to change her, she would never have gone for a moonlit stroll before she says.

Nobody is defending anything, most people just sit back and enjoy the ride and show, i just don't understand people like you. Who watch 15 episodes of a show then complain this much about it. If you really think the writing is soooo bad why are you even watch it? I dont understand it, why cant you just sit back and enjoy the show for what it is? Do you seriously just bitch to yourself while you watch anime and think about how horrible it is? Whats the point?

All mangas and animes progress and get better and better. That is what is supposed to happen, stories progress and are supposed to build up to a climax. they get more and more interesting as you go, and with manga sometimes mangaka get better and more skilled as they go along. (although akame is good from the beginning). Characters develop more as the story gets closer and closer to its conclusion, how is that even a complaint? The writing is quality, it has good comedy, drama, and action what more could you ask for? Why complain just because it has drama and deaths, and comedy? is it not allowed to have both? I enjoy shows like that, gurren lagan is a good example of a show that has drama and comedy, same with samurai champloo.

Why do you throw out these fucking buzzwords like "edgy".. oooh no this show is trying to be edgy so it sucks!! like wtf?? the definition of edgy is "at the forefront of a trend; experimental or avant garde"... isn't that a good thing? To be innovative? Akame ga Kill is quality to most people, at the very least its decent. How can people be such haters. I don't particularly like The Voice or American Idol or Glee, so i don't watch those shows unless someone wants me to watch it with them. But even then I don't complain about every little thing, I understand its just not for me.
