Excellent episode in terms of direction, but the story is somewhat overrated. The merit of the episode was entirely due to the direction team, who managed to transform a sad clichéd story into something emotional for many people.

Jesus F. Christ I did not see that coming...

This episodes had me in tears. I can count on one hand how many anime managed to do that.
It's not just the tragic backstory, anyone can come up with some sad heartstring pulling, but it was presented in such a great way, I just can't...
The cinematography is absolutely beautiful, the motions, the feeling and grace with which the whole thing was presented is phenomenal. I mean Dandadan had insane animation quality from the start, but this was something else.

For a very long time I got more and more jaded about anime, nothing would hit me like it used to, like when I first watched stuff like CLANNAD After Story or Steins;Gate. I thought I was the problem, like I lost my capacity to feel shit, but this just proves it's not the case. There IS anime that can still be absolutely stunning and kick you in the feels.

Well done.
"You know, when people make you feel angry or sad, it's usually because it matters to you what they think. The opposite of love isn't hate, it's apathy. Face it, if you didn't care about what they thought, you wouldn't hate them..." ~Planetes

Episode 7 of Dandadan is nothing short of a masterpiece. It felt like watching an entire full-length movie. The animation, music, production, direction, and story all meshed together perfectly to entirely captivate me. I couldn't stop thinking about it until I finally fell asleep the night I watched it. Thinking about it still gives me chills. The final hug made me cry; it was the perfect culmination of a truly iconic story.

Thank you to the studio and its staff for creating such a historic masterpiece. Thank you.

it might be episode of the year
I hope people don't get mad at me, but this single episode was better and more emotional than the whole Look Back movie for me, and I really liked that movie
This has set Dandadan as AOTY for me, and we still have 5 more episodes to go

Fuck, that hit hard. I’m not afraid to say it, I shed some tears. Seeing all the horrors visited upon Acro Silky was hard. No parent deserves that. Acro Silky had a horrible ending, and I’m happy that Aira was able to give her some peace of mind. This episode was amazingly rich in emotional content. It was chock-full of amazing storytelling, buttery smooth animation, great pacing, and good character development. We got to see both Aira’s and Acro Silky’s tragic backstories. How could anyone suffer that much and still come out as a sane person? Well, only one of them did. The other had an extremely tragic ending, but at least Aira was able to guide her to the afterlife to hopefully one day meet her real daughter. I guess now Aira will be joining Okarjn and Ayase in their “adventures.” I wonder how Alra’s friends will react to her sudden change in personality. That’s going to be one awkward conversation.

As a non manga reader, I didn't know the story behind the ghost and I absolutely wasn't expecting such background. Holy crap, that was WILD. After watching, I saw some reviews and discovered that the ballet scene in the end was she jumping the building. I thought it was already the transition to after-life.

Despite that, an incredible episode. Aira conquered my heart for helping the ghost to be in peace.

I really like the backstory of the ghost in this episode. It felt like a backstory of a demon from Demon Slayer but they took a long time to set the tone and make you really feel for the ghost's POV and why they never met the afterlife and became a ghost. I thought the delivery was amazing! I can't wait for the next arc!

@shuffle_017 I think its a mix of both, its her wish, but it also came true. And i hope so and as a parent of a small child, this episode hits like a truck.
