Lovely Complex Episode 15 Discussion

It's been a while since I wrote anything here on MAL, and definetely the first time on a post from almost 20 years ago, but I had to get this off of my system...

Boy do I hate this show and this comment section in particular...

This girl Koizumi started off desperate, eventually became sad and pathetic and is now she's just plain creepy. Not gonna go into detail, but these past 2 episodes were the final straws. How can any human being try to defend that kind of behavior??? The only reason people have been rooting for her is that she's the POV character. If the other person was the POV, and especially if the genders were reversed, she would be the most despised character in the show. All that not to mention how for years she's been chasing a guy who's said multiple times that he doesn't want to be with her, which is beyond sad on its own, but then she tries to guilt trip him and make it seem like he's been leading her on????? And people here are like "you go, girl!"???? Does she not have any self worth????

The guy, Ootani, didn't do a single thing wrong this entire series and yet people are almost crucifying him (both in the comments and in the show). He was a bit dense in the beginning, but now that's no longer the issue. He told her he doesn't like her multiple times and she just doesn't take a hint. He still treats her normally (which she asked him to do), but then people act like he's being insensitive for it. And then when he DOES try to be more conscious of his words and actions he's still somehow wrong? What????

Sure, we know this is a romcom and they're expected to be together by the end, so people are more or less annoyed that he's taking so long to get together with her. But if you consider the actual situation the guy is in, he's done everything right. Should he date her just because people have been pressuring him to? Will that lead to a healthy relationship? I know of a bunch of examples, from both anime AND real life, of why that is a terrible idea.

And yet, because this is a fictional romace story, and common sense says they'll eventually have a happy ending together, I'm supposed to accept this load of BS? Do the ends justify the means then? If that's the case, Koizumi should've just kidnapped him and kept him in a dungeon or something until he started liking her. As long as they get together at the end, it's ok, right?

I'm sorry, but this is one of the few romance stories I've watched where the MCs absolutely SHOULD NOT get together, and should've both moved on long ago. The fact that they'll be a couple at the end is only due to this being fiction. If this was real life they'd hate each other by now, and even if they got together due to peer pressure, they'd be unhappy, probably have a disfunctional marriage, fight all the time, cheat on each other, have a nasty divorce and their kids would need therapy for years. WAS IT WORTH IT, SHOW???

Dropped. 6/10.
