shouko was such a relatable character, the director really portrayed how disability can isolate a child from the rest of the group well, in my opinion

The starting is nice but after 10-15 mins you start feeling pain in you just gonna say stop. But the ending is good this movie is like a roller coaster. The movie makes play with your emotion if you are to sensitive. 100% recommended.... :)

A MASTERPIECE.
Beyond MASTERPIECE.

I watched it almost 3 years ago and re-watched it again last year and again planning this year too.
But, here I am.

It's a heavenly MASTERPIECE.

The story was so beautiful and amazing.
Ooima Yoshitoki is really a fantastic writer.
And,
KYOANI, you all were, is and always be my favourite studio.
I was introduced to KYOANI through this movie and it was more than enough for me to become KYOANI, my favourite studio of all time.

The characters writing is out of this world.
For me, specially the main leads.
Wow.
Anyone ever ask me,
What is your favourite Hayamin voiced character, I will say "Shouko Nishimiya" and same with Miyu-kun's "Shouya Ishida".

The music is chef's kiss.
I know the fact that music was made in consideration of semi-deaf people and that's why I love it more.
And, the animation is chef's kiss.

This movie changed my live.

[Story] 7 - Sad heart warming struggle of shyness both went though and self forgiveness for their actions for those around them.
[Art] 10 - Characters true to their manga designs, high quality animation.
[Sound] 7 - Creative use of sound/music Nothing too special and memorable besides theme song.
[M-Character] 9 - Where great both of them
[S-Character] 7 - Side characters had their story severely cut. Leaving some with empty character.
[Enjoyment] 9 - Tears, sadness, anger, happiness and laughs, the whole package.
[Overall] 8 - Definitely would watch again in a few years

rewatched it after like 2 years. enjoyed it a lot again. watching it second time was easy to undersand the messages and themes, i end up missing them the first time sometimes because i'm trying more to focus what's going on on-screen. and this time got to watch it in the original BD version on my TV. great experience just like cinemas lol.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.

They did an amazing job demonstrating what mental health disorders like social anxiety and suicidal ideation are like. I can't speak on the accuracy of the disability representation cause I'm not deaf, but I think it was a really touching story

I have seen lately quite a bunch of posts about A Silent Voice with lot of mixed opinions I have pretty mixed feelings about it too.
It's a good movie overall, direction-wise, how it tells the story etc...

My complaint might a bit too subjective / tainted by my own view, but I found it dreadful to watch how passive and quite one-noted of a character Shouko was, imo. Not only in primary school, she was basically victimized throughout all of it and everything happened to her.

It's also hard to say anything about her as a person. She has low self-esteem and thinks she's guilty of everything happening to her, but she doesn't feel like an actual person to me personally.
She rarely (except that brief scene where she pushes him back) expresses any form of anger or bitterness that isn't just getting scared, towards any of her bullies either and seems to uhm... too pure / nice / however you wanna name it?
I've been bullied in my school time quite a lot, because I was "weird" (aka now I know I'm audhd lol) and they assumed I'm queer very soon; quite lot people I knew have been bullied and that bottles up at least some kind of anger and resistance towards them in you, and towards the circumstance that they dare to kick down on you.

It felt it's a lot like one of these "person from a minority gets bullied or discriminated against and their life is awful, please pity them"-movies (mostly is mostly a black or any other poc, or queer, or neurodiverse, or any kind of disabled person).
Which I'm not very fond of when someone's existence (or my own, if it's a movie or series about queer or neurodiverse people) is portrayed pitifully and they act so passively or victimized towards all of it.

this movie hurt so much. like fuck, life is really hard sometimes. and some people have it even harder. and just a little kindness and compassion can change their whole life

i'm glad a lot of the characters were able to grow and/or try to better themselves. i'm not sure everybody did, though. and not every past relationship/friendship issue was resolved. and while that kind of makes the MOVIE feel "unfinished", that's just not how LIFE works. there is always something that can't be resolved or repaired. sometimes things just break

the only complaint i have is that some scenes kind of jumped from one to the next. there was obviously some plot/story that took place between them, albeit generally minor. i guess it was either never intended to be shown or was cut due to time constraints (2 hour anime movie is pretty long)

i had been holding off on watching this (along with several other animovies because they're all supposed to be emotional). and i was right to hold off. but i'm glad i finally watched it. though i don't think i'll ever watch it again for that same exact reason

9/10. i really enjoyed this. a lot. it makes you feel. a lot.
