I see there is some controversy on focusing on another cast but I sincerely love it. Bon Clay is one strong character. If it wasn't for him Luffy would have been in trouble before and if it wasn't for him now he would be dead. Luffy needs his nakama, he's said it ever since Arlong, so it's good he's got at least one temporary nakama to have his back this time. And, I wouldn't be surprised if Mr.3 and Buggy don't at least get one selfless and epic moment during this arc!

After Luffy's horrible and painful loss we have shifted main characters to Bon Clay, Mr. 3, and Buggy, a group I would have never expected to focus on. I personally find it delightful to see Mr.3 and Buggy become bros out of their selfish natures, well only so far as it benefits them anyways, and Bon Clay's a decent Franky stand in, full of emotion and willing to risk it all because he feels like it and wants to save his friend Mugi-chan. Plus we had Bon Clay do some awesome work here, he disguised himself as Hannyabal tried to make an antidote and even brought Buggy and Mr.3 along with him to go save Luffy, refusing to give up as long as there is some hope left! Thank gosh Hannyabal is such an idiot or he'd be harder to play the part of.

I love how Bon Clay refused to die meaninglessly but swore that he would risk his life as long as he had a chance to save his friend.

I wonder if Magellan put Luffy even closer to Ace with the intention to freeze him to death and keep him out of the way. He saw how Luffy refused to give up and it may go against his morals or navy orders to just toss him into the lava to kill him(even though we've seen it happen before). This is a case where one man if he managed to continue fighting could destroy this entire war by freeing Ace.

As for Luffy, it hurts to see him like this. I think his eyes were drawn pure white because of what the cellmates said, he's practically blind right now and he was bashing his head into the cell probably because his hands are too hurt to even move effectively. They were only good for catching himself this time. It's always inspirational to see Luffy refuse to give up until all hope is gone, like when he thought his nakama were dead, but it hurts to see his actions be so futile. Until Bon Clay can find Ivan who seems to be creating a "demoning away" phenomena or at least is involved with someone who is doing that Luffy should be out of the picture... Until then he's as good as dead.
