If the bluray sells well, there'll be a s2, if not, there won't be. Simple as that. (There's a lot of material left in the novels)

May be a dumb question but where can I find these figures? Also interested in the LN sales figures.

But yeah definitely hoping for a second season, great series overall.

Do you go to the News Board in MAL? There are BD/DVD sales news/discussion and LN sales news/discussions there. And I am responsible for the news.

Check

http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=620879
http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=623595

And also

http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=617107&show=0#msg22842103
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Oh ty but I have seen those threads, they don't give any predicted BD/DVD sales figures though (unless I missed them). HaMaou is only listed as 'not yet on sale' in the first link.

This is just my speculation but I have a feeling that S2 will come in a year if not this winter because there are enough stock of episodes and plots unrevealed yet. For instance, the reason why Maou planned to concur Ente Isla and why he don't like to go back there currentry -- I haven't read the LN but according to jp.wikipedia.org, LN explains that.
Other than that, the LN has much more stock of plots and episodes the Anime hasn't introduced yet. I wouldn't surprised if season 2 has not 13 but 26 episodes.

There probably will considering how popular this show is, but since I found it very mediocre (5/10) I will maybe give 2nd season a try, but it is not likely.

I don't think it is the best way (because the charge for international shipping is expensive), but Amazon.co.jp, the Japan branch of Amazon.com usually accepts orders from overseas.
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00C3AHZ6M
Near the upper right corner of the page, you can read "Would you like to see this page in English? Click here." Click it and you'll see partly translated pages.

Seeing that Amazon.com in the US has some pages of the LN and posters of "Hataraku Maou sama" as imported items already, I guess it's a matter of time for someones to start selling the DVD and Blu-lay via Amazon.com or other online shops.

The last link symbv gave is the latest (June 18) analysis on prediction figures of BD/DVD. I can point you towards where we get our predictions from... provided you can read Japanese:

http://www27392u.sakura.ne.jp/index_news.cgi

The 1st table includes the Hourly Top 100 BD/DVD on Amazon JP. The table below that is the data for the upcoming Summer 2013 anime, also per hour. The one I guess you are looking for, is the table below that... which is the data for the current Spring 2013 anime.

The key is for the columns in each table is here:

Current rank / Previous rank / Format (BD, DVD or Box) / Accumulated Points / Nico Nico Preorders / Release date / Anime Title

"Accumulated Points" is awarded based on the average ranking a title has per 24 hour period.

The goal of "Amazon Stalker" is to predict the 1st week Oricon sales of an anime BD/DVD based on hourly ranking updates, against past data accumulated. It is not perfect, but it does a pretty good job I think. The only reason some predictions are off, is because a title may be very "Amazon heavy" or "Storefront heavy", which may cause an overestimation or underestimation respectively in those cases.

I speculated earlier on this thread why I believe a second series will come fairly quickly: this seems to be a "flagship" animation for the production company, which is why I think they both stretched out the first two LNs and showed no effort to have a "big" ending to try to pump sales. My guess is that 2 or so weeks after the release of Vol 1, we will get an announcement for a fall or winter season.

This is pure speculation on my part of course, but I think it will play out this way.

My only concern is how long I have to wait for the official announcement. I hope it comes along with the third DVD/Blu-ray (Sep. 4 on sale). The sixth and last disk will go on sale on Dec. 4, so it'll be perfect time if season 2 starts this winter.

Pretty sure of it, just not sure when. It might be possible that they could be waiting for more LN's to come out, along with exciting progress with the plot to generate hype and possibly aim for a 2cour, but that would take much longer considering there are only 8 volumes of the LN out now.. Sales definitely won't be a problem either, it's just a matter of time/them wanting to do it.

...Is it wrong if I think...that if Hataraku Maou-sama! is to get its second season, it'll definitely be after Sword Art Online gets its third or Accel World gets its second? Don't get me wrong though. Tbh, I like this series A LOT more than those two, but consider their popularity, I can only see those two coming before this series gets its chance. ._."

...Though if there really is a second season, they seriously got to do something about Orba then. The anime staff messed him up big time...-_-"

What are you talking about? what does sword art online and accel world have to do anything with Hataraku getting a 2nd season? They aren't even made by the same studio, also the fact that this made 10k+ in bd sales, and that the ln has more then enough to adapt from, it probably will be getting a sequel regardless of the popularity of other series and their likelihood of getting sequels.

This is by far my favorite comedy anime, was laughing my ass off half the time I was watching. Looking at the sales and how enjoyable this anime is I doubt the studio would pass up the opportunity to make a second season.

At this point, it has become a matter of when it will be released, rather than if there will be. Let's just hope the Studio doesn't become lazy.

I think it'll get a second season because:
1) Critically acclaimed/popular
2) The ending seemed to open for them to not take it further
3) They apparently had to drag out the last few episodes so it wouldn't go into volume 3, any point to this if they had no intention of continuing it?

1) Do you actually have something to back this up or are you just saying what you yourself feel? Keep in mind that the world does not revolved around America so unless its immensely popular here, what we think about the show means next to nothing compare to what the Japanese think.

2) Not entirely sure what you mean but the ending is open because the original light novels are far from finished. It certainly wouldn't be the first to have an open-ended ending with many unanswered questions and never get an animation continuation.

3) Or they could had just done that because volume 2 was a good place to stop, regardless of if they choose to continue. It would be silly to go into volume 3 and start on a mini-arc just to end it abruptly.

I hope that the anime would at least encourage people to translate the manga.
