RPGs are #1 for me. Second are adventure-based games. I also like racing games, and occasionally fighting games, but they're not much fun to play alone :/ My top three would be RPGs, adventure, and action (in that order).

Entropy, have you played Broken Sword 1&2? I think you'll love 'em; they're interactive semi-sidescroller puzzle games. They made new ones after 1 and 2, but the 2D graphics of the first 2 just make the game for me. You should definitely check em out, they're quite old so it might be hard to find, but definitely worth it. Both were released for PC and PSX.
Haha, I used to be really into point-and-click adventures but the Broken Sword series is the only one I never really tried. Though I think I've played pretty much all of the other classics. My favorites are probably Sam and Max, Full Throttle and Discworld 1 & 2.

I can't really chose one genre, I'll go with fav games

Rpg - Fallout 2, Fallout 1, hopefully I will list Fallout 3 here soon :/ No RPG was even close to Fallout

RTS - Command and Conquer (the original one), Warcraft II, Warcraft III, Total Annihilation

Turn Based Strategy - Civilization 3, Heroes of MM 3

FPS -
Quake I (nothing can overcome those Quake Lan parties, nothing)
No One Lives Forever, No One Lives Forever 2 (nice humour and gameplay)
Aliens versus Predator 2 (marine campaign scares the shit out of you!)
Operation Flashpoint (quite realistic, but still very enjoyable first person shooter, it was a really great game with a challenging campaign)

As you see, most of my favourite games are a bit old. It's not like I don't play recent games or something, it's just they don't really give the same experience.

My favorite genre is, by far, Japanese RPGs. Square Enix ftw!

I also like adventure/action titles like God of War and stuff like that, but not even nearly on the scale that I like JRPGs.

My favorite is definitely RPG and adventure games.

I don't care very much for arcade fighting anymore, I did when I was a kid but the only genre I can say I hate are sports, and FPS, I like TPS, but the first person point of view makes me nauseous if I play it too long, unless it on a computer which I just don't do much.

RPG and Action Adventure are definitly my favorites....The Final Fantasy Series and The Legend of Zelda, are unbeatable...especially Ocarina of Time. FPS and RTS aren't too bad, depends on the game thou...good old Goldeneye. Sports are ok, I used to play them a little more but now not so much...The super extreme sports such as SSX Tricky are stellar. Not a fan of racing...unless its Wipeout, the first Extream G, or Star Wars Episode 1 Podracer.

I would say Action Adventure, just got my hands on Zelda: The Twilight Princess and I am in love with it. Next would be Shooters: Gears of War, Halo 1 & 2, Golden Eye, and Perfect Dark. Least favorite would have to be most sports game; they just get old to fast.

Got to love Zelda. My favorites are Action adventures like Zelda or Psychonaughts. Second would be RPG's Like Tales of the Abyss where the battles are real time.
About Sports games I enjoy the unrealistic games such as Sega Soccer Slam and SSX Tricky. As for realistic sports games I would rather play them in real life than on a console.

Other genres I enjoy: Horror (mostly Silent Hill), Racing (Mario Kart, Project Gotham Racing...), Adventure (Legend of Zelda, Shadow of Colossus...), Fighting (King of Fighters, Super Smash Bros) Platformers (Sonic, Mario, Banjo-Kazooie...)and Arcade-style games (Super Monkey Ball, DDR...).

I hate First Person Shooters and (most) Sports games.

I pretty much play every genre [RPGs (Final Fantasies, Xenosagas, Pokemon :P etc.), action-adventure/stealth (Resident Evils, Metal Gear Solids, Gran Theft Autos etc.), card (Yu-Gi-Oh! :P), fighting (Tekkens, Street Fighters etc.), platformer (Super Marios etc.), driving/racing (Gran Turismos, Driver, Need for Speeds, Twisted Metals etc.), FPSs (Unreal Tournaments, Quakes, GoldenEye007, TimeSpltters etc.) etc] and I don't really have a favourite genre but I do have a genre I just hate! Sorry RTS fans, but this genre just bores me to death. I can never get into RTSs, the genre just doesn't interest me one bit. Every time I hear the acronym RTS, I think of a pillow because I'm going to sleep. I also don't play MMORPGs. I just don't have that kind of time that's needed to invest into these games.

Racing Games I like: Burnout, Need For Speed

Guitar Hero 2?! Puzzle!? You've got to be f*cking kidding me. Music games are a growing trend. You've got Singstar, the GH series, Rock Band, the Donkey Konga games, and a few more that i can't remember...I think music/rhythm games are becoming a hell of a lot more popular these days.

I've been a big RTS fan for many, many years (since Dune 2, really.) and also played most of the major MMORPGs. Other genres don't interest me as much, though I really liked some of the simulators of the 90s; Tie Fighter, MechWarrior etc. That breed has died out. :(

Been a big PC gamer since forever, so the old point-n-click style adventure game a la LucasArts will always be among my favorites. You don't see much of them anymore, sadly.

Turn-based strategy, definitely. Got sick of RTS pretty quickly. After playing lots of Warcraft II and Red Alert back in the day, the rest feel too similar. Although I enjoyed Myth and Homeworld quite a bit, despite the ridiculous degree of difficulty (lack of skill probably didn't help).

I say that, and yet I'm a sucker for the Diablos and all of their "clones". Currently playing through Sacred which is pretty fun (couldn't get Titan Quest running on my system, unfortunately).

And of course, love RPG's, although I grew up playing the Ultimas rather than the Final Fantasies. Got into console gaming many years later. I'm too much of a loner to get into most MMORPGs.

I don't mind the occasional action/FPS, either (although I've already noticed a slight decrease in hand/eye coordination, and I'm only in my 20s). I'm really not very picky when it comes to genres. I'll play almost anything if it's good.

Hurrah for self-indulgence.

I prefer RPG's or SRPG's, but I can't live off those forever. I have the need to play some FPS and just watch people get pumped full of bullets. Once I get a better computer I am going to expand the games that I play. Crysis is at the top of that list.
