| I had to turn off Monster a few times. It's not jump-out-of-your pants scary, but since it's a little more grounded in reality than other shows (Elfen Lied, Higurashi, Another, etc etc) it left me with nightmares. I've done a lot of research on sociopaths and that sort of thing so it hit me a bit more than most anime fans I suppose. It's the reason I've dropped it for now, although I fully intend to pick it back up. I also found the manga about the crazy chick who asks guys if they need a little sister pretty scary and had to drop it entirely. It's more stupid-scary though. |
| Thank you for replying to this thread! I thought so too, maybe scariest is too bold, what if the creepiest? or the closest to it? I've been searching for a good horror anime, but I found there is only a few horror anime.... I've watched Another, Shiki, Ghost Hunt, Higurashi, Tasogare Otome, the closest one to scariest is Ghost Hunt in my opinion, and Shiki also creeped me out, Rena's "USO DA!!" is creepy too! Another didn't scare me at all, but I still love it. Mirai Nikki is creepy too.... What I've been looking for is a GHOST anime that is scary.... is there any? I wonder... Oh, and is this thread is suppossed to be in anime recommendation forum? my bad :P |

| Shikibane himeaka and Shikibane hime kuro are amazing. They are creepy in a certain way. I think they would be a great series to watch. If you haven't seen pet shop of horrors please watch it it's amazing. http://www.animepalm.com/series-images/shikabane-hime-aka.jpg Lets see you could also watch ayakashi: Japanese classic horror. Hitsuji no Uta was really odd....You could watch vampire hunter D that's a movie. It's pretty good. Please remember shiki and shikibane hime aka are different, and don't let the description fool you, it's a terrific anime. |

| Haven't really watched any scary anime. The ending to Kakurenbo left me with a pretty creepy feeling though, although the OVA was short. And even though Ghost Stories is supposed to be funny (at least the dub is), there were a couple of episodes that legitimately scared me when I imagined them happening to me. |

| I would defiantly say Another. Allot of others like Elfen lied or Deadman Wonderland aren't scary at all they're just gore because thats much easier to pull off |

| Ghost anime that are scary? Haven't seen one yet, personally. But if you want a good psychological thriller, try Perfect Blue. Not really scary, but pretty intriguing and intense. |
