| Three episodes in and still can’t say for sure how I feel about the show. I definitely need to read the light novel though disappointingly from what I’ve heard volume 1 seems to be the roughest, so that might not help. I’ll say this, Chitose is still hard to get a read on, he’s awfully poetic and philosophical, something about him definitely still reads as…artificial, yet the constant projection of his charm and charisma makes me wonder if he’s just unaware. That said, I do appreciate the fact that he ‘fessed up when he realized he hurt Kenta’s feelings, whereas Yuko played the ‘you’re the problem here’ card. Couple that last part with what she says toward the end that Yuko is undoubtedly shallow. Also, you can really tell this episode that it’s a light novel adaptation. The dialogue is really sharp, witty, and corny, with not a lot of inspired framing choices or reaction. Said scene of Chitose and Nanase talking…again, hard to read. Is he serious or is skirting around raunchy topics just the way he talks or is it a full on mask? The clues are right in front of me but the way to thread them together escapes me… |

| Yuko didn't come off well at all in this, at least Saku does have instances of actually trying sincerely for Kenta. |
| I understand that the premise is to help people who have been bullied and help them grow, but I have to admit that the waifus in this anime are incredible. At first I was on Team Asuka, then Team Yua, then Team Yuzuki, and now Team Yuuko (she really surprised me, I thought she would be an easy one) hahaha. I don't even know which team I'm on anymore. Anyway, Saku was right: she can't help Kenta forever. She gave him the tools to grow little by little, and if Kenta decides to fall back into the same patterns, it's not Saku's fault. In fact, Saku reached out to him and helped him see that not everyone is bad. The problem with people like Kenta is their low self-esteem: they think that everything bad that happens to them is someone else's fault, or that even a joke between friends is some kind of attack. That's why you can't expect pears from an apple tree. But hopefully he will achieve his goal and be able to reconcile with Saku and become true friends. |
